Considering that Microsoft's support is made of fail, and wont let me email them or talk to an actual person, I thought I'd ask you guys and hope that someone has an answer.

My 10 month old Xbox 360 Elite is having problems with wireless devices syncing, and getting signals to and from the console. The sync button on the console doesn't seem to be working, and I cant start the Xbox remotely from any wireless controller, but wired ones can turn it on. When I shut down the console, none of the wireless controllers that are on get the signal to shut down.

When I turn on the console, the power light, and the ring of lights don't come on, but the internal hardware seems to work fine; it plays games, runs the dashboard, reads discs, no crashes at all. If the power light and syncing wasn't screwy, you'd think it was perfectly fine.

A really interesting thing is that every now and again, the ring of light will start working again, and I can sync controllers, but after a while, the lights get frozen and wont turn on OR off, even when the console is powered down. And when they do work, they seem to be confused about the console's orientation, as when it's in the vertical position, controller 1's light will be in the upper right, controller 2's in the lower right, etc.

This is really annoying, because I just bought the Rock Band 2 bundle, and cant get the drums to sync up. Is there any way this can be fixed without voiding the warranty, or having to send it in?

I've had similar problems with my 360 of a similar age, but less extreme. I play with wired controllers during multiplayer, after having it disconnect at really annoying times, and the light orientation does the same thing as yours. No idea why it does it, it is fine in all other regards.

well the best solution for this problem, and all future 360 related problems is to move to a place where Microsoft's Xbox support is good...like say any place except the USA (and possibly Canada, haven't really heard anything about the xbox support in Canada).

Hey, I fixed it!!! All it needed was a good bash . Just took the faceplate off, and vigorously hit the light module a few times. All without having to void the warranty. :)
