Xbox 360 Failures Actually On the Decline?

Yay! Good to go Microsoft.

If my warranty goes out and it dies, I guess I can buy a new one. Knowing that it will not break so easily.

God I hope this is true, it'll be wonderful when RROD isn't brought up in every fanboy-flamewar...now if we can do something about the Halo divide, we could then start on the easy stuff...world peace and global warming...etc...

Pah, what's with console failure? My friends BC 60gb launch PS3 failed Sunday (yellow light), they're sending a replacment 60gb but no mention of BC... Surely they could chuck in a PS2 as compensation?
My PS3 died similarly last Christmas, and mine still has BC (I was playing Shadow of the Colossus last night). As far as I'm aware the replacement models are refurbished PS3's so they tend to have older firmware and components.

On an aside, I was thinking it's probably cheaper for Sony to refurbish a console and give it to you free than let you buy a new one...

I still call BS on this. Microsoft has claimed all the time the RROD was fixed, and every time they just keep lying. So really, if some other company that doesn't even get all the RROD reports "claims" the rates are on the decline, I'm gonna be a bit skeptical.
Fanboys. You gotta love them.

My 360 got the RROD back in November 2008 and I was left with my PS2 (excellent console) to play with down at college.

I have to say that it is good news they the RROD are declining but it is sad it took this long to happen.
Yes, call me a fanboy without any reason whatsoever. That's polite.

I thought being a jerk was frowned upon these days.
I have read a lot of your posts and you really tend to favour the PS3. If I am wrong I apologize.

Personal experience, but the first one I bought froze up fairly often especially on Eternal Darkness, at least once every hour.
The could be a very dumb question, but... are you sure it was the Cube and not Eternal Darkness?

That games is notorious for messing with your head in original ways, it's full of bugs, freezes, lost saves and othre things that are actually in there on purpose to muck around with you.
No, I'm sure it was the cube. I had the 'memory data erased' and upside down rooms and whatnot. I knew the game would play tricks beforehand, the only time it really got me was when it said it was erasing all the memory card data. But it went back to the games rather quickly. I'd played the 7th Guest and Phantasmagoria well before that so I'm used to games messing with my head versus the system crapping out. It was the system, not the game. It would happen in completely random areas of a room, not just on entering, when the sanity meter was full. Replaying the area after the glitch with the same circumstances wouldn't repeat the issue. It also happened a lot with the Resident Evil remake as well, which had none of the random psychological creep out tactics.

And if we're talking about crap systems, let's go back to the NES. Who remembers blowing on games and trying random combinations of force used inserting the cartridge and pushing it down to get a game to work? Added bonus: You have to do it at least 6 times before the damn power light stops blinking.
Eheheh, I remember the NES. You could drop that thing off a building and it wouldn't break. I guess more modern circuit boards are less resistant to our more extreme ways of "fixing." LoLz. Anyway, I've had my Xbox for two years and never had a problem. *knock on wood* I guess I'm in the lucky 50%. :D

Double post for the response. I do rather miss the older systems, the NES, SNES, and the Genesis. They were hard as hell, I can't count how many times my SNES got dropped down the stairs, a decent 20 stair set and still worked fine. My brother bought it in 92, left it to me and it still works fantastically. I wouldn't want to see what a PS3/360/Wii looked like after it fell down a full flight of stairs. I'd even give a passing grade to the N64 given how many times it was abused, if not for the crap joystick which rubbed off enough plastic in six months of use to choke a horse. Still, I used my NES made in 1989 a month ago to play Gargoyles Quest II and it worked perfectly. Admittedly the original AC adapter fried after a good 12 years and I couldn't find the replacement I bought so I had to use an AC adapter for an RC car that operated on about the same hertz, but that still shows me that it's a friggin tank when it comes to consoles. It can use an RC car AC adapter, and I've gotten it to work on a printer/scanner AC adapter as well. Again, it's a tank. I'll be interested to see if current gen consoles can say the same in 20 years.

I don't favor the Ps3 as much as I dislike Microsoft. I've had several of their "quality" products break on me, and I lack the patience to deal with their crap. However, when I post about it, everyone is quick to defend the big MS by jumping on me and telling me it's my fault their products broke and I'm supposed to somehow know how to fix every single thing wrong with them. When I have Windows crash on me due to three different errors (only one of them being the blue screen) then I tend to not be too friendly to the maker.

In my honest opinion, their hardware sucks. That's why I went with a PC and Ps3 combo. So I'm not a Sony fanboy, as you probably guessed.

the fact that it still has issues still makes me pretty angry, you also have to think the amount of 360s sold and the people that gave up on it after it first brokedown

My original 360 failed by RROD. but my replacement was brilliant. then I dropped it on a road.
It still works fine. but it's as if it's develpoed a damn personality :|
If I start winning a hard game, it either crashes or ejects the disk :p
both infuriating.

That makes sense to me. I was probally one of the first to get the Jasper, as it can free with my first repair, and it's not broken. Ever. I leave it on by mistake all the time, and come back to it being as cold as ice in the morning.
As stupid as I feel asking this, what is the Japser? I've heard it mentioned quite a lot recently but never before...

I see now. Fanboys tend to lash after people that dis their item. Which is thy they are called fanboys.

I like to think to each their own but being willfully ignorant about something does grind my gears a little bit. I can understand if someone is ignorant because they don't know but to stay ignorant even though they know the truth is a big button pusher of mine. I don't try to tell them to stop being closed minded but I will also not take their posts seriously either.

It is good to learn you are not a fanboy. I just guessed wrong and I apologize for it.
