Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone can help me here..

I got a hdtv today, the resolution is 1680-1050.

It's a samsung syncmaster 2032mw:

I hooked up my 360 and played for a while on the lowest HD setting the xbox gives.

After a while I honked the 360 up to 1080p, now the picture is much clearer but I seem to be getting some screen tear and the framerate appears slower, unless I'm going mad and imagining it...

The game in question was fallout 3, and dead space seemed to do the same.

Any idea if its to do with my settings and not just my vivid imagination?

Sorry it's not strictly game related but people here seem to know thier stuff...

i personally found that screen tearing was due to the game. Moto GP 06 is the only game I have that has caused screen tearing.

yeah it seemed to be the worst inside rivet city and not as bad everywhere else...

I'm new to this HD malarky so not really sure how it works.

1680x1050 can't display 1080.

Hence, the 1050.

That's probably what your problem is.

Play it on 720p, looks just as good.

I hate to break it to you but that "HDTV" isn't really one. It's actually a computer monitor with a TV Tuner. Not only that, but it's a compter monitor which dosn't support 1080P.

In other words; "Stop trying, it's not going to work".

Your best bet is to get an Xbox 360 VGA cable. That will allow you to set the Xbox 360 output to your exact display resolution. That's what I use on the Xbox I have connected to my 1680x1050 display at home and it works beautifully.

You could've offered a helpful suggestion, but no, that would have been nice.

Like the other guy said, I play on 720p and it's still dazzling. Just stick to that.
