Xbox 360: New Motion Control!

Well, its been announced! The new 360 motion system. But it seems it tracks your movement and voice instead of a controller's. Any thoughts?

IMO I think even if it fails it could lead to more, like virtual reality or something similar.

Im not sure about it. It might work and catch on, or it could fail and be left in the idea trash can for a long time. Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Well it seems like an advanced EyeToy, no surprises there.

What I think it fails at is the idea of bridging casual and hardcore (I do hate saying that word) gaming like they said it would. It seems more casual to me than the Wii to be honest. Judging from the enthusiastic lady at the presentation it will be tiring as hell because you have to jump around and move your whole body instead of just using your arm.

I suspect a lot of Xbox owners were like "Stupid Wii lawl!1!" and now they are digging this concept...well alliances never shift.

LOL it sounds like Microsoft are behind the 8 ball yet again, and just copying everyone else's ideas! IF it comes to be it will be a substandard and crap.

Note: I have an Xbox 360, I much prefer it to the PS3 and Wii. But then again, I'm a mac owner/user.

It's gonna suck, no doubt about that.

If it does ever catch on, everybody except for old grannies and three year olds will get tired of the novelty of this in about a week, just like the Wii.

So all game console-based cameras are just advanced eyetoys now? You might as well say the PS3 is just an advanced Atari 2600.
Assuming the 'Natal' or whatever the final product winds up being called does half of what Microsoft think it can, it's going to be more than a camera. I'm not one to be suckered in by promotional material but I think this will be an interesting step forward in console functionality and comparing it to old tech is unnecessarily cynical.

I was far more impressed with the motion capturing system that the PS3 was able to boast.
Maybe it's because they demonstrated their project live, while Microsoft only had their aspirations for the project.

If it works, then that's great, though.

If it works like it did in the tech demo, and they make games that use its functionality properly, then this will be awesome. Cant wait for it to log me on by looking at my face etc. Looks like it would be good for multiplayer, since it eliminates controlls etc, your never stuck without a wiimote or something.

I love microsofts other announcements aswell, sky tv, last fm, and twitter, yay. My xbox is plugged into my laptop anyway, but still.
