Hey all, I recently moved house and as such have had to move all my electronics set ups around. One of the major problems is that I no longer have a direct route to connect my xbox to my router. Would it be possible for me to use my PC's wireless connection to the router to run an ethernet cable to the xbox and play?

Thanks in advance, this is just a rather peculiar set up so all assistance is appreciated.

You'd could just get the wireless adaptor for the 360, but dat shit be expensive dawg.

I have no idea what you're talking about as an alternative, could you provide a diagram?

I guess it was rather wordy... Does this make a little more sense? XXX (Wireless) ---- (Cable)

Router XXXX PC ---- Xbox (In order of where the connection goes through first)

Yes. That is what I do and it works just fine.
Cool, is there any bad lag, or is the connection fairly solid?

I provided a sort of word diagram in my post above, my printer/scanner is still disconnected so I cant draw anything on paper.

He is asking if he can connect an either-net cable to his laptop, and use the laptop's wireless connection as a source of Wi-Fi for the 360

OT: I believe so, as I tried it once. It kinda worked, but the connection we used was shit. I think you can get a FAQ online
That's pretty much it, my connection is pretty naff tbh (3 Megabits) but will that do for a relatively lag free gaming experience?

Off-Topic briefly: Congratz on getting 10000 posts total today :D

I misunderstood. I use a wireless router hooked to my regular router and run an ethernet cord from the wireless. Just kind of used as a gateway. The wireless router isn't used for anything else heh. What I do works fine though! Good luck!
Thats sounds pretty much identical to my plan. I have a wireless card in my Desktop, which connects to my wireless router in my hallway about... 10-15m away. I'd then run the ethernet cable from the Desktop using the computer as a gateway into the xbox.

Yes it should work and save you the major rip-off that Micosoft's wireless adapter for the X360 is. You just have to go into your wireless connection's properties and enable Internet Connection Sharing

Thanks a lot for that, major help. Just activated that. All I need now is a long enough Ethernet cable to reach around my room.

PS - Windows 7, Is it recommended by you?

Supposedly, you can get wireless internet by buying one of those cheap USB wireless dongles, instead of getting the official adapter, and by doing that save ~$50 or more.

Yes, you'll have to bridge the connections though.

I did it by bridging the connect as mentioned above. Connection was alright even with my rubbish 2Mbps free broadband.
