Hello, and welcome to another noobish Xbox 360 question brought to you by.... me! I have been getting videos to work on my 360 and all i can get to work is .wmv videos (i have only tried .wmv .avi and maybe divx) these are all coming off a USB of course. I've heard that with an internet connection you can download support for a wider range of formats, but i have no idea how to do this. Answers anyone?

Do you have a Live connection for your 360?
Yes i do XD
Well, I would try playing one of those unplayable formats while connected to Live. I did that w/ some audio files that wouldn't play and it asked me if I wanted to update. But if you already tried that, then I'm not sure what to say. I'll look into to it.

I was looking into this myself. A quick trawl around the net leads me to believe that you need to be signed into Xbox Live, and then when you try to play an .avi file (or whatever format it is) it prompts you to download an update. I haven't tried it myself yet, but it sounds harmless and worth a shot.

G'luck

Ok here's what's happened. I couldn't connect to the internet cause my wireless network router on my 360 took up my ONLY USB port so i couldn't open the video on my USB and go online at the same time. When that didn't work i tried burning my video to a DVD and CD, but wen i inserted it in2 my console, it couldn't be detected. So i wirelessly connected my computer to my 360, opened the video, got the download, and now it works like a charm. Thanx alot!
