I'm planning on buying a xbox 360 in Canada, but I'll probably take it with me when I travel, mostly to Singapore, which is a different voltage.

I emailed xbox support and I got an email back warning me that sometimes the voltage adapters wont work or games I buy there would be on a different region.

Would my Xbox 360 that I buy in Canada work in Singapore without any problems or am I heading for serious controller smashing frustration?

Games you buy in Singapore won't (or are unlikely to) work on your Canadian system, even if they do work you may run into region locking, which will ruin your day.
The power adapter will be different so you'll either have to buy an adapter or a new cable. Plus it's a big weight to carry in your baggage.

Basically for the cost and trouble you're better off either buying a new console in Singapore, where they're cheaper than the US anyway, or not bothering with it. Depends how long you intend to be out there.

I honestly wouldn't know, hopefully someone that knows can help you. Forget Singapore, stay here in Canada!

Once you've been there... you'll understand. But "probably not" isnt really reassuring, I dont wanna get there then my shiny new 360 blows up or something =(

With an adapter it might work but you would have to bring a bunch of games with you aswell because the ones you buy there wouldnt work in your 360 because of the different regions. If you are just travelling donlt bring it with you, go out and enjoy the city your visiting. If you are going there for work or a reason you'll probably be there for a while so just buy a 360 there.

Ah, that's because the evil British Empire designed and built those countries' power grids. Evily imposing their own voltage and plug standards along the way...

The best place to check is http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en.html

Majority of the time you should be alright as games in Singapore tend to be region free

The Voltage i have no idea about that

Edit - I forgot companies like EA and Ubisoft their games are normally region locked

This Gamespy column [http://www.gamespy.com/articles/965/965526p1.html] might shed some light on the potential issues, though I'm sure it's not comprehensive.

I can tell you from personal experience that when I went to Spain for a semester, most of my American stuff (including my laptop's power supply!) worked with the voltage there with only a simple plug adapter (as opposed to a voltage converter).
