That is all down to the individual, but for me the story was the focal point and once you know the twists and turns, the rest of the game doesn't hold up so well on second run.

I think Fallout 3 and Mass Effect are pretty fun and they don't cost much. Also pick up some of the older need for speed (carbon, pro street) titles and assassin's creed 1 for now.

Edit: Pick up DiRT too, it's pretty cool.
