Not too experienced with arcades sadly. I'd still be starting at square one. I really want to get straight into it with a d-pad as I'm quite adept at tekken with d-pads.
When SF4 came out they have these special gamepads made that didn't have analogs and had vastly improved button layout and D-pads. I don't know the names exactly, but I remember mad cats produced them and that they were around $80 last I checked.
Mad Catz? Everything I've bought from those guys has broken.

One of those suckers. They are actually quite sturdy (knows from experience of launching one into a wall).
I dunno man. I've bought controllers and dance pads from them in the past... and they weren't exactly high quality. However, since there aren't any quality complaints on the page, I'd consider giving it a go.

even though the ps3 d-pad may be betteri would advise against using it if you use your 360 regularly, alot of my freinds who play 360 say a ps3 controller litrally hurts to use.

Do not buy this on the xbox. Just no. Please? It's a playstation game and it should remain so.
The obvious answer to this would be:
Do not buy this on console. Just no. Please? It's an Arcade game and should remain so.

If you are at all serious about arcade fighters like Tekken then you should really think about getting an Arcade stick, you will start at square 1 but within a week of practice you will be used to it. I recommend getting one ASAP and downloading something like Street Fighter II to get used to the stick before Tekken comes out if you want to be ready.

Madcatz have a fightpad for Street Fighter which has a D-Pad like the playstation controller, I have not really heard anything bad about the fightpad, which is a change for Madcatz.

May just be here say but I've heard taping a quarter/50 cent piece to the D-pad helps. I could be completely wrong though.

But I like Tekken... XD. Been a fan of the series since Tekken 2. I think it's a good fighting series and I've gotten a lot of enjoyment from it.

Also... trust me for a fighting game it's really imprecise.

Get it on the PS3, the d-pad is much better. Tekken 5 is slow on the PSN because of it's own servers, not because of the PSN, Tekken 6 will be just as smooth/bad on the PSN as it is on Xbox Live.
Also, there's trophies, just as good as achievements, if not better.

OK, I played Tekken 6 today for the Xbox 360 and this is what I have to say about the D-PAD.
IT AIN'T THAT FUCKING BAD.

Playing Cammy in Street Fighter IV on PS3 is fucking garbage.
the input for her hooligan move is horrible, where on 360 I can pull it off every single time.

I am so sick and tired of players bagging the 360 controller when I have no fucking problem with it, I play all my fighting games on 360 and have a blast with em.

You guys say negative shit about paying for Xbox Live, well this is what I say to that regarding fighting games..

PSN = FREE = CRAPPY CONNECTIONS, HARDLY ANY MATCHES AT ALL.
XBL = PAY = A FUCKING GREAT ONLINE EXPERIANCE.

I own both consoles and while I will say games like Uncharted 2 Among Thieves look fantastic on PS3 and most certainly will never see the day on 360, Fighting games are another story.

I get way more enjoyment with my fighting games on Xbox 360.

Just shell out on an 360 arcade joystick/pad. That way you get a usable d-pad and a usable online service.

See this? This is a problem people. You already pay for your internet, why are you paying Microsoft to use YOUR internet on something you've already paid for! I find WoW has the same effect on some people. They're constantly paying for it, so they feel slightly obligated to play it in order to 'make the most of it'.
...So? That doesn't contribute anything to the thread, and just shows how much of a fanboy or hater you are for Sony or Microsoft. While true, pointing that out is completely unnecessary.
Your post is more unnecessary. His post at least had some kind of connection to the op.

(This post is unnecessary too)

Say what you like PS3 fans. I don't care.
360 is better online, and paying improves the experiance.

Enjoy your LAG.

well as suggested before you could try with the joystick controller, sadly I know your pain of the D-Pad for the 360... it would be nice to know a good D-Pad controller

You can't get a better fighting game than Tekken

OT: I don't know much about 3rd party controllers so get it on the PS3

The D-Pad is actually an analog nub with a D-Pad covering, I think. Why else can you push it ON THE SIDE from the right, and have it respond as though you pressed left?

you could mod you're existing controller to make it more precise. if you decide to mod http://www.instructables.com/id/Fix_your_Xbox_360_D_Pad/ that should do it

And i know from experience, a 360 controller won't survive wallrage.

The 360 dpad really is gash though. It just doesn't have enough travel, and is shocking imprecise. Without looking at it, can you tell if you are in DR, instead of R or D? Not really.

But i don't have a PS3, as i already have a Bluray player and don't really use my 360 that much.
My controller survived tile rage. Mothersucker is sturrrdy :D

But the only place you can find a Tekken arcade machine is in Japan.
It's really not, I can think of three places in London alone. I know people in America that know where close Tekken machines are. You just aren't looking hard enough.

You can mod the 360's D-Pad to make it more efficient.

Heres just one type of mod but there are others: http://www.ufighterx.com/guides/videogame/360dpadfix/360dpadfix.htm
