My Wii was the only close call I had with problems. A little metal bit on the inside of the console was making it harder for the disc drive to turn, which cause overheating and a ridiculously loud little white box, which would eventually end with the disc just failing after and hour or so. Luckily, I opened it up, and used the best thing to ever use when messing around with consoles and knowing nothing about them: paper. Just folded up a little piece of paper which moved the metal thingy up, and now the Wii is quiet and cool to the touch.
