Xbox live connection problems?

I've been experiencing some odd connection problems this morning. I was playing a game, then suddenly it disconnected from xbox live. Nothing unusual, it just happens sometimes, but after a few tries over the course of ten minutes, I began to worry. I switched off the console and turned off my router for thirty seconds. I turned it back on, and the router seemed to be working fine, but the console still refused to connect, so I ran a test, which told me that the connection from my internet to xbox live was the problem, and my router's "mtu" setting was too low, and to go change it. Seeming as I hadn't changed any settings before, and I barely even know what it means, I thought it best not to. I turned off my console and removed my wireless adapter for thirty seconds, as sometimes that helped, but it still wouldn't connect. I decided to test it again, which came out with the old "turn off your router for thirty seconds" advice. After testing a few times, it eventually connected, but now I seem unable to join parties, with it being stuck on "Connecting to party" until I eventually turn off the console.

Any advice? Anyone else getting the same issue?

It's a network update, I've been having difficulty too, either do some single player stuff for about an hour or turn your console and leave it alone until the update period has finished.

I had a feeling it might be as such...Okay then, thanks for the help, I will now be off to get a pizza to eat while I watch a movie. Mmm...extra cheese...

Duuuuuuuuuude. That's whack.

I had the exact same problem today and it's weird cause it hasn't happened to me before. EVER. However, I fixed it with a update to my router's firmware and a reboot.

Which router are you using?

ehh I can wait but you know would it kill Microsoft to send us a message like "hey between the time of --- to --- you may experience some difficulty with XBL" is that really such a crazy request?
