I found it terribly ironic that those were the first two posts. While I think that it's a good idea on Microsoft's part and that it would be cool if it was done correctly, it's not going to be executed well. Either a small number of people are going to use the service, or it's going to be hampered by pre-existing services like Steam and the already-large iPod library. Still, I'll be keeping my eye on this.

I wouldn't of minded them making a portable device (e.g. PSP meets Xbox) but expanding to mobile devices? Imagine, Gears of War 2 cross-platform trash talk. "haha i chainsaw u lol ttyl newb"

The future looks bleak.

Yeh, I'm not paying for multiplayer. And don't they already have Windows live or something? If they do they kinda failed at advertising it. However having Xbox Live acting as a kind of App store for the Zune would be AWESOME!

Hopefully. Might give Valve a reason to update TF2 for the Xbox if there's cross-platform play.
Blame Microsoft for the lack of TF2 updates.

Anyway, Live is redundant on PC. Mobile phones have no use for it, and any other platform that exists that Live could fit in to already has something similar.
No, Valve can't find a way to make the updates fit on the Xbox. Which is bullshit.
Valve was already at the maximum in terms of memory when they originally released TF2 for X-Box. It's not bullshit either... consoles have a very limited amount of RAM, and developers need to take special considerations when making their games for a console. When Valve had TF2 being made on the 360 they got the game to run as it is with the memory they had to work with. And now they are trying to add more content to a game that already uses all or almost all of the available memory... so you can see where the problems could occur.

Valve is also waiting for all the TF2 content updates to be released on PC so they could release it as one large package for you 360 users. I'd much prefer having all the updates in one neat little package at a low cost as opposed to having 6+ separate packages at a slightly smaller price each.

Ah, well if that's true then I can see your point.
If you want proof, here it is [http://www.tf2.com/post.php?id=2394]

OT: I will ask Microsoft firmly but harsh to stop poison the PC. I mean, did they really think people would pay for GFWL?

Wait, does this mean that X-Box gamers can play games with PC gamers?
There are cross-platform games, but you have to actually pay a subscription to XBox Live in order to take advantage of that if you are on PC, and its not even with all games that are on both PC and 360.
Sounds like all it is is just streamlining among all the Live services that are available on all platforms Microsoft provides games to. Whoopidee-doo-dah.
Since you seem to know a fair bit about this, do you know if it means that a pc and a 360 could crossplay on LAN without a gold membership? (Assuming the correct games of course.)

If Xbox LIVE expands past the Xbox then it wont be Xbox LIVE anymore. What would it be I wonder?
It will tie in nicely with their current Windows Live platform which already includes hotmail, the live search, ...

So would this mean that a pc gamer could play Street Fighter IV against an Xbox player?

It will never work....
PC and Consoles are too mismatched on too many games.
Oh and they will still make everyone pay.

Expensive LIVE?
Daylight Robbery LIVE?
Wallet Rape LIVE?

I can't see any smart gamers taking a paid LIVE service over the free Steam on PC. But then again Microsoft has a big marketing budget and their are lots of stupid people out there.

Does this mean I can finally, FINALLY, have the 13 year olds and unemployed early-20 somethings that live with mommy screaming obsceneties at me on my PC?

Well, it's about damn time, I don't hear nearly enough people screeching "FAGFAGGAYASSFAGIPWNYOUNOOBFAGFAGTGOTYFAGFAGGAYMCGAYERSONFAG!" yet. Sign me up for some of that.

This is never going to work. Steam already has a monopoly on this for PC, and mobile games that are not on the iPhone are little more than impulse purchases that last for five minutes.

Stick to what you know, Microsoft.
well actually I enjoy my solitair street fighter and megaman mobile games but all my other purchases I never really play any more

With so many of Microsoft's games being on the PC as well, I think it would be interesting to be able to play with someone on the PC while on your Xbox or vice-versa.
