Not to be rude, but do you have any idea how the real world works?

You admit that you think it's OK to rip them off because they're successful? I'm sorry, but WHAT? Try saying that outloud or to an adult. Trust me. It's crazyness.

Secondly, using your logic on the last point, I'd argue no one was hurt if they took the extra points away.

Dear reader, think before you post. It may save your life.
Well, there's an old saying on the internet about arguing on the internet.
"Even if you win, you're still retarded."
Take that as you will,I am done here.

By extension, the one who loses is even more retarded then. You are aware of that, right?

I'm not calling you that, but don't use phrases that can very easily be turned around against the person who uses them.

Very well, dear reader. Fare thee well.

I was one of those who was given free Microsoft Points but they have taken them back since, and I have no problem with that. If anything all it did was push me to buy Legacy for Dragon Age II because I've been contemplating getting it since it came out.

In the REAL world, if a bank and/or employer over pays someone... you have to give that back.

How people are saying they should be able to keep this currency is ridiculous.
Indeed. Microsoft should get the extra money back. Yes, I know of their shady and unethical business dealings and practices. But, not doing so will give a precedence of leniency.

Yes, they are accepting the consequences and are dealing with it this way. Yep, it's called life but, that doesn't mean you can fight back unlawful things.

I can't be sure about this since I can't log on to the xbox website to check my purchase history, but last night, one of my friends told me he got 1340 MS points for free and didn't know why. I logged on to see if it had also happened to me, but instead I noticed that the 560 MS points I had (and had been saving, as far as I can remember) disappeared. I don't know if it happened last night or earlier, but this confuses me.

Implying that Microsoft is a fledgling company that doesn't make tons of money every day and tries it's damn hardest to always make more.
Microsoft is a successful business so it's okay to rip them off.

That is what you are saying. Are you comfortable with that position?
Yes,yes I am.
Because Microsoft does stupid shit it doesn't need to in order to keep itself happy, like this.
Xbox Live Gold, was it really needed, was it really good for people to have to pay money to do something that should come with the package.
The only company that's worse is Apple because they release a new model of the same damn thing every year to rake in rich idiots.
All that this is doing for Microsoft is nothing,it's virtual credits it isn't real money fresh from the Microsoft office,it's not like they planned some huge heist, they got free virtual points to buy virtual items and games. It's not ruining anyone's lives because Little Bobby Tipinheimer got to buy that game he wanted but couldn't afford initially.
Sounds to me like you have a problem with ANYONE thats successful. Let me guess, you think the rioting in London was spot on, right?

I get why they took the points back, they made a mistake, luckily they can revert it. But there's another argument that always pops up in this kind of thread that I have a problem with. "They're a company, they're trying to make money". Fair enough, but do most companies have to go about it in such a jerkish way? Used games have online pass bullshit, there's all sorts of day 1 DLC, and they still constantly complain about the used games industry because they don't get a little bit of money. I get supporting developers, maybe you could send them 10 dollars after buying used. But it's the publishers that are complaining. If they hate it so much, why don't they just reduce their prices to compete with the used market? Quite simply, they feel they deserve our money, and some of them don't even try to earn it. They don't have to. But a desire to make money does not automatically grant you asshole privileges. If that were true, everyone would be ripping everyone else- okay that's a bad example. But you know what i'm getting at. They feel they deserve our money, like we're lowly peasants and they're royalty or some shit. You know what? Fuck them. Let them die. There is a huge freeware industry out there, some freeware being open source and therefore very easily modifiable. Freeware doesn't have any DRM, is endlessly transferable, and again easily modifiable. The only way those games ask for money is either a donation page, or some of the MMO games have an item market. Even EA has need for speed world. We don't need the triple A industry, and those companies are really pushing it.

I kept this seperate in case you didn't read anything up there, for this is my most important point. I remember the second episode of extra credits. In it, it said this: "What's better for the consumer is, in the end, better for the industry.". So, how are you guys as consumers treated today? Like suckers? Like sheep? Like criminals? Well, however you are treated, i'm sure you'll agree that the industry is acting like a big ass spoiled jerk child, and so we aren't better off as consumers. You guys need to learn that we don't need them, because not only is there a shit ton of freeware out there, but if this AAA industry collapses, a new one will rise and we might all be better off. We might also be worse off, but we'd still have freeware. Don't lie down and take this bullshit anymore. Rise up, my fellow gamers, and say no to industry bullshit.

Dammit, I should have checked my points! Ah, well. Would have been nice to go on a shopping spree, but alas, today is not my day...

Oh, lord. Last I checked, there haven't been many deaths involved in the London Riots. I can't tell if you're being facetious or not, but judging by the rest of your answers you probably aren't.
