I get why they took the points back, they made a mistake, luckily they can revert it. But there's another argument that always pops up in this kind of thread that I have a problem with. "They're a company, they're trying to make money". Fair enough, but do most companies have to go about it in such a jerkish way? Used games have online pass bullshit, there's all sorts of day 1 DLC, and they still constantly complain about the used games industry because they don't get a little bit of money. I get supporting developers, maybe you could send them 10 dollars after buying used. But it's the publishers that are complaining. If they hate it so much, why don't they just reduce their prices to compete with the used market? Quite simply, they feel they deserve our money, and some of them don't even try to earn it. They don't have to. But a desire to make money does not automatically grant you asshole privileges. If that were true, everyone would be ripping everyone else- okay that's a bad example. But you know what i'm getting at. They feel they deserve our money, like we're lowly peasants and they're royalty or some shit. You know what? Fuck them. Let them die. There is a huge freeware industry out there, some freeware being open source and therefore very easily modifiable. Freeware doesn't have any DRM, is endlessly transferable, and again easily modifiable. The only way those games ask for money is either a donation page, or some of the MMO games have an item market. Even EA has need for speed world. We don't need the triple A industry, and those companies are really pushing it.
I kept this seperate in case you didn't read anything up there, for this is my most important point. I remember the second episode of extra credits. In it, it said this: "What's better for the consumer is, in the end, better for the industry.". So, how are you guys as consumers treated today? Like suckers? Like sheep? Like criminals? Well, however you are treated, i'm sure you'll agree that the industry is acting like a big ass spoiled jerk child, and so we aren't better off as consumers. You guys need to learn that we don't need them, because not only is there a shit ton of freeware out there, but if this AAA industry collapses, a new one will rise and we might all be better off. We might also be worse off, but we'd still have freeware. Don't lie down and take this bullshit anymore. Rise up, my fellow gamers, and say no to industry bullshit.
