This has actually been happening for quite a while. Well, the hackings, not really the MS point scams. Though those have been going on for a while. But it seems quite a few people on XBL are getting hacked. Or, it was the case a month or so ago. Not sure how it is now. Thankfully I have no money on my account. And it's a silver, so pretty much worthless right now.

Everyone who is affected by this deserved it.

'FREE MICROSOFT POINTS! You just have to give us all of your information and they're yours!' That sounds legit.

Protip: Nothing is free. Or at least, nothing worth having is free.

It's not at all like the Sun makes it sound, getting people to give you there information and then taking money from there account isnt hacking, it's just tricking gullible people.
Entering someones password and username =/= hacking

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they running a phishing scam? Phishing isn't hacking.

That's not really hacking xbox live. That's just old fashioned phishing.

Difference is, one hacks past security measures that we pay companies to take care of, and the other just tricks people who don't know better.
You can't really stop companies who have your data being hacked (That's their job, and if they fail it's a big deal), but you can take basic precautions to stop yourself being conned.

Except Nehrim. And love. :)

OT: Sounds more like fraud than hack to me. Why are people so quick to call something a hack these days?
Because it grabs peoples attention and makes the 'victim' sound less stupid like they were completely helpless

What's Nehrim? Also, love isn't free. You may not have to pay money for it, but you still have to earn that love. Unless it's unconditional love. In which case...many people would say that it isn't worth it. (Because that usually comes with creepy stalker tendencies. Not always, but usually. 'Course, personally, I'd be okay with a stalker-ish significant other.)

Not really hacking, Phishing scams happen everywhere, If your too stupid to notice you deserve to be robbed blind.

Or do people really think a Nigerian Prince has a couple billion he needs to smuggle out of the country and into yours? Unless you live in Switzerland it doesn't make a lot of sense.
