About this time last year, i managed to get the glory that is xbox live gold for 1 year. But my xbox live membership should of run out 2 days ago. Can any one explain?

I'm guessing it re-subscribed itself, as you didn't tell it not to.

Didn't you get any message and an e-mail telling you that the subscription was going to run out? Those usually have a choice to renew the subscription, if I remember correctly.

it's microsoft, it now has your credit card info, they run off to buy houses, yatches, cows, ect, and give you an xbox subscription in return

Microsoft doesn't want you to even unsubscribe, so you have to actually call them just to cancel the bloody thing. It was a pain for me too.

If you payed by credit card, as others have said, you were subscribing at a yearly rate, not buying one year.

If you don't want to keep paying call them ASAP and cancel. Then buy pre-paid cards in future.
