Am I the only one who's got this before? It happens on downloading things from Xbox Live but when you get to the paying screen, this error appears. The weird thing is I bought LIMBO this afternoon, as well as a few indie game demos. Restarted the console, nothing. Restarted the internet, nothing. I've Googled it and it happened to loads of others over other DLC. Has anyone had this and sorted it?

(Not sure if its related but I haven't been able to join party or private chat either)

Oh, I've had that before. I just stop doing whatever I was trying to do, play a game, then come back in an hour or so and the error is gone.

Well, if you can't join parties or voice chat it might be a nat type problem. I know because half my friends have about a 50/50 chance of getting to join, and sometimes they get kicked. I don't know if it would affect xbla purchases though... maybe.

does it say anything else besides error
Nope. Some people I've looked up had phone the helpline, and in one case the operator replied, 'sorry that code is unknown...'

I get these sort of error codes all the time, but don't specifically know what that one is. Every time I have an error code it usually fixes itself after a little while. I think it has something to do wit them moving subscribers to new servers but I'm not sure.

It should sort itself.

EDIT: Why the fuck did I quote?

Just play a game for a hour or so, or play Call of duty till you punch the screen because a bullet hit your foot and you died, and come back and it should be gone.

I can tell you this much on this. As a Computer Networking Systems personnel I know some behind the scenes things happen between the hours of 11:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
What usually happens is the servers that are heavily used all day long which for arguments sake we will say 150 are in need of updates, repair, maintenance and cool down (also known as a reboot)Reboots are vital to ensure service speed stays expediant. So they will shut down half the servers or more lets say 100 which allows only 50 servers. The downloads and marketplace portal(servers) are probably the first to go down. Sometimes mid-day alot of traffic can reap the same reaction. So the portal will be shut down or "disconnected" and will not allow the transfer of data. my research says the 800700E8 is a servers malfunction code. It is a hexidecimal format by the looks of it. Basically in a nut shell it is temporarily out of order and just need to be allowed to rest. I usually hit this snag in the late evening. As far as it is a "unrecognized error" first Microsoft may not even be aware however because the fact it is produced by the XBOX it is a manufacturer code. So this means how do you think the public would take it if you were to say "We have shut down a majority of our servers for maintenance or cool down." I would be pissed. Anyway hope it helps

Ultimate Solution: Leave it alone if after 24 hours you cannot download still complain to Microsoft.

as an xbox employee and ccnp... i can tell you this guy has no idea what he is talking abt... that is all
As an xbox employee myself, I had to sign up and say what you meant to say is "ccp" not ccnp
also, if you work for our company, I really hope your grammar is better than that.
"That is all"
