So I was just reading that the X1 won't include a headset out of the box and will instead rely on Kinect for voice unless you purchase a head set separately(the 360 one wont work).

One thought came to mind.

If the chat audio is coming out of the TV speakers, wouldn't it just be possible for people whom are loosing in a multiplayer match to yell "Xbox off" and effectively turn off everyone's console?

If I'm not mistaken it happened to people who where live-streaming the Xbox reveal on their Xbox with Kinect on.

more than likely they have fail safes, like only turning the xbox off via voice command while on the menu screen. Also more than likely the xbox live sub won't cover your microphone costs.

Actually...what does xbox live pay for again?

Well, if the Kinect is *properly* designed, then it should know what's coming out of the Xbox's sound output and filter it out of the microphone's input stream to improve sound recognition.

On another topic, is it just me or are the Escapist's catchpas becoming impossible to actually read?

Conference and speaker phones have been able to filter out remote sounds for a while now. I think you'd need to have your speakers pretty deafeningly loud for the Kinect to mistake it for actual input.

I'll assume Microsoft actually thought of that, because I want to assume that at least one person at the company isn't retarded. What strikes me is, would you want XBox Live voice chat coming out of your speakers?

Well the first Kinect picked up the voice commands being used during the xbone reveal, so I don't think it's out of the question.

Is there a way to disable the voice commands? Otherwise you are going to have a bunch of pissed off gamers. When their little brother/ sister opens the door to their room and screams "Xbox off" every 5 minutes they aren't going to find it very amusing. LMAO!

I wonder if the Gametags "XBox Off", "Ecks Bawks Off" and other phonetically identical names are taken yet?

It would be funny for people to shout at you in a multiplayer match and turn their console off.
