If it forces PS4 and the Xbone to keep trying to outdo each other in terms of performance and quality it should be fine.
Agreed. People may have a preference but you still want the competition close so your favorite console still fights for you. If there was no competition then they will never spend money on exclusives, special deals or whatever else they can think of.

well of course it was eventually going to have one good month, plus what better time than for black friday when the bro brigade are sweeping the street for black friday deals, of course they are going to be getting the xbone, I mean what else plays COD?

in all honesty though, plenty of parents and relatives use black friday to get that one big present for the kiddies/teens, and of course they are going to grab that microshaft xbox they've heard about, they trust that brand name, their businesses have been using those computers for years! gotta be a sensible purchase!

People saying the WiiU is headed to Gamecube sales are really overestimating it. It got outsold 6 to one in November - its headed to Dreamcast levels.

Well they took advantage of the seasonal sales, which is strongest in the US. Once the holiday season is over PS4 will comeback on top. I'm sure of it.

Oh yeah, can't wait to hear how many more things Microsoft will drop support from windows 7 in order to force people to buy windows 10.

PC is backwards compatible with software that dates prior to the 1980's. Not to mention there's no region lock.

Plus it's a lot easier to fall in love with the hardware. I can take the GPU/CPU out of any console and show it around a group of nerds, and they'll shrug. But if I show a computer GPU or CPU, then everyone in the room starts touching themselves.
Hmm, I've never taken the CPU out of my console, too busy playing awesome games on it.
I can see why you'd spend a lot if time with the PC taken apart though, hopefully they make some good games that didn't come out in the. 80s someday.
(Please note this is a joke post, don't take serious)

While a momentary advantage in sales per month is interesting, where do they stack up in total units sold? Or profits?

I wonder if, after all the price cuts and bundles, Microsoft is actually making any money off of the Xbone these days. I mean, $330 with a game means $270 for the actual console, and considering it was initially selling for about $400, I wonder how much it costs to actually build the thing. But then again, I guess Xbox Live doesn't give people free games every month, so there's that.
I believe the Xbox One was around $480 to manufacture so they were making very little off of sales to begin with. I imagine they aren't making money on the hardware anymore.

As for Xbox Live Gold having free games every month, did you mean that it *does* instead of *doesn't*? Because there's 2 free 360 games and 1 free Xbone game every month. The 360 games you get to keep even without the subscription, whereas you need to keep the subscription for the Xbone ones like with PS+. This makes the 360 deal pretty solid if you're interested in the games offered imo because a single month subscription is usually way cheaper than the cost of the two free games. Then again, it would be best if online matchmaking was free, but baby steps...

It was bound to happn, Sony have been in a weak spot in November, and Microsoftwere unusually strong. Thats going to reverse for next year, though.
You seem awfully confident that the PS4 will be back on top next year. It's far from a certainty in my eyes, Microsoft have done a very good job of closing the gap while Sony have certainly seemed to be getting complacent. On top of that, Sony has serious concerns regarding their information security protocols, which could very easily push people towards the One.

I'm not surprised really. Microsoft overall had better deals in November than I saw for the PS4. Not to mention, despite being bug ridden mess at launch, the Master Chief Collection launched in November and that was a buying force for many.
With the Kinect gone, a good price and decent bundles the Xbox One was bound to improve its sales performance. Here in the UK Sony have been hitting back hard though, there are loads of retailer offers as well as some like this:-

Direct from Sony. Thats a damn good deal which ever way you look at it, sucks to be me though as I would have bought that but I still have Christmas gifts to buy and just bought an XBox One as well so I will have to wait until January.

I'm confident in getting a deal then too, Microsoft and Sony are starting a price war here which is always good for the consumer.

Well, of course XBox outsold the PS4 this November. It was bound to happen; they got the Master Chief Collection out this year, and the Microsoft-mandated discount was well placed. Of course, it could also be a case of "everyone who wanted a PS4 already has one"...

Take not of that bolded part a minute...just let it sink in...

While older software may work, half of the time they really don't and and usually require and ungodly amount of fixes before they start working decently.

Lord of the rings battle for middle earth , and its sequel, and its sequels expansion all need a fix to work on windows 8. Want impossible creatures expansion packs? Good luck buddy! xD

That's just the tip of the Ice-burg to, If it ain't on steam, or some other online store you will have a very hard time using older games :p
But at least it is, you know, possible because there is no proprietary nonsense criminalizing "homebrew".
I bet you could mod a ps4 to play ps2 and ps1 games no problem.

Hopefully this news buzz will lead to more of these good bundle deals in the future; despite having at 360 last gen I had no interest of getting on the next gen console wagon (PC it is now) but there being more of them is a good thing for everyone.

I guess thats good, I think it?s in the consumers best interest that neither Sony or Microsoft does too well compared to the other.

I?m rather surprised and disappointed by the low wii u sales, especially since Nintendo has released a lot of good games this year(or at least that?s what I heard).

Yes. It will be terrible when they drop Win 7 support in 2020. Also, the jury is still out on win 10, so keep the bashing to yourself, until we know what we have in our hands.

It's not that hard to outsell the competition when you make the price of your Xbox One on Black Friday bargain bin deals.

I'll keep the bashing to myself when PC fans stop coming into console threads and bashing consoles, till then it's open season.
Also I'm sure windows 10 will be great, I hear it has great touchpad support.

(In the North American market only)

Should start to add it to articles such as these just like how people point out a lot of "exclusives" on consoles is also available on PC, PS4 still ended up with a sizable lead in worldwide sales thanks to much stronger sales in Europe and East Asia compared to the competition

Good on em', competition is always a good thing. I'd hate to see Sony have a monopoly on the AAA market.

(I know theirs Nintendo but they do their own thing and that works for them but it's hard to see them competing for the same audience as PS and Xbox who are so similar.)
Ahem. is PC so far ahead that your not even seeing it? Consoles do not own AAA market.

what have they dropped so far?

steam is horrible for buying old games because half of the time they dont work. GOG is where you go to make sure its working.

that being said, so far ive only met a few games that googling for half an hour wont fix. and those are often due to reasons of developers being assholes and coding to something specific like Scarface being unable to run on anything above XP due to how they deal with graphic drivers.

Also if all fails you can just run a virtualbox.

Wonder how many of those Xbone's went on ebay or at best will be played on xmas day and left to gather dust after a few weeks.
considering some of black friday deals i assume quite a few resellers restrocked their stock.
