Why is it so important to you that he sees that the new system also has benefits, as you say. He has his own ideas on what is a more pleasing design and that is not some terrible thing even if he is not polite or restrained about it. I don't see what entitlement has to do with this especially. Entitlement is a nagging toothache of a word and is begging to be pulled from any discussion. It's not adding anything other than being a nagging pain in the arse.

Anyhow, the guys not that bright, XCOM's a good game. I have no frame of reference to compare it to other XCOM games but it's good none the less...

Anyway, you'll find that on the internet at least one person takes issue with everything. Be it games, music, your opinion or even the fact that Milla Jovovich is the most beautiful woman in the world... I- I really need to stop that...

My only experience with the new XCOM is watching my friend play it for about half an hour but I've been playing the first one for a few weeks now and I really don't think much of value was lost by ripping out TUs. It could probably be implemented somewhere between the two extremes presented but it was just pointlessly complicated in the old game and it does a bad job of indicating how many TUs your actions take unless you have a table printed out.

That said the way that the original handled accuracy, in particular the firing angles is amazing and I wish more games would do that.

If you want to make enemies, try to change something.

The original games look great, and I want to play them eventually. Yet X-Com EU 2012 was developed with the originals as a guide, not as a bible. X-com is a great game concept and it doesn't feel like a dumbed down, tacked on experience. There could be a little more depth to certain elements, but as it works now, the gameplay is a good mix of elegance and PAIN. Not all streamlining is bad, deal with it.

It's not as if UFO Defence through Apocalypse are being deleted off the internet or something. It's not as if the XCOM community is being tainted because it's opened up to new generations of gamers. And, believe it or not, many people who find they like EU2012 will be encouraged to play the original XCOM games, and they will ENJOY them.
