Finally getting to the bottom of my backlog (next up: Dawn of War 2 and then I have no idea...Singularity maybe?)

Got about halfway through the game. Realized that there aren't all that many enemy types, weapon types or mission types, got extremely bored and quit.

Oh, it's fun. The controls are annoying for some reason but the game is nicely polished and reminds me a lot of Cyberstorm and other good old turn based squad games.

But...there just doesn't seem to be much here. No real surprises in store. Nothing but more enemies with slightly higher stats vs my squad with slightly higher stats.

Yeah the base game is fairly boring, and easy to boot. Now there is one heck of a nice mod for it. I forget its name. But it greatly improves its difficultly.

I recall one ufo that landed and within one turn a patrol of aliens found me. Non-stop fighting throughout the entire ship I finally managed to subdue the entire crew with 2 casualties. (50+ Alien dead). It was.. a rather epic fight.

There isn't much anyone can do to help with these "why do I not like this thing that I do not like" posts. A close friend of yours with years of experience analyzing your gaming tastes MIGHT be able to give you valuable insights. A bunch of randoms on a forum haven't got a prayer.

Oh, I never found it easy! Quite often I found myself reloading a mission because 2 or 3 of my best soldiers were dead.

Just...bland. In the same what I found DA:I bland after a point. No more new enemies to fight, no more interesting weapons to find, no interesting skills to unlock.

Yeah, Xcomm gets very repetitive fast. Once you get the plasma guns or titan armor or whatever, there is nothing left to research. And the game just kinda drags on and on and on for hours and hours and hours, mission after mission after mission.

I am trying to think here and I can see the game getting repetitive after awhile, but the game dose have a nice amount of verity in enemies, items and such. It could do better and there is like one aspect that I think kind ham strings it that we might end up talking about, but the game dose have a lot particularly with the enemy within expansion that adds more stuff.

I guess one thing is that the core abilities are kind of straight line. Bullet through plasma, your main guns don't change (Except for your rockets, but that upgrade comes so late that I almost never see it.) Most of your upgrades and diversity comes from your armor and accessory slots and there is a lot from scopes, to extra armor. Though with that there is this kind of don't experiment presser. Like how often do you put your assault into flight armor, or your support into ghost armor. It's like a brain bug that say to me flight armor belongs on the sniper and ghost armor on the assault, so most of the time I am building my team up to the perfect team rather then experimenting and playing with different teams. (I might be the only one who plays like that though.)

This build up Vs experimentation is something I would like to see change whenever they do a sequel. Give the player more incentive to experiment with things like flying shotgun troopers.
