I have been playing this game since my brother got it for me for Christmas. Ahhhh its good to be in the UK.

Its very good, even if the accents the voice actors put on are a bit dodgy.

At first I had a very "What the hell is this?" response.

However, now I know what you're talking about. So when do we get more Monster Hunter?

NO SPOILERS
The game is very mediocre the characters are all stereotypes i.e Angsty main character, main characters bulky mate, standard anime love interest, old veteran etc. Also the jumping is over hyped because when you do jump the wii chugs like a hippo doing sit ups. And there are hardly any places where you can jump back up too only down, so it is a bit pointless. I suppose the combat system is good if u like trying to memorize strategies, and having to go through whole mini menu's to bring up one sodding attack. Also some enemies can only be seriously damaged by the Monado (red sword thing), and when these enemies are very frequent and only one character has the sword. This makes for an awkward combat system (in my opinion).
The story is long and has it's moments but in my opinion too long, it also became to boring to complete. but THE SETTING IS AMAZING two giant robots in the sea, I mean wow.
So yeah don't get too excited because you will end up disappointing yourselves. Sorry if you feel I was harsh I just thought you ought to know

I've looked into the game due to the hype surrounding it and there really isn't anything about the game that has me excited. From my point of view, it comes across as a lackluster Final Fantasy game.

The reviews along with the critical response a month after release could sway my decision, but as is I'm almost certainly going to pass on this one.

I from the Uk so I already got it. All I can say is that you won't be dissapointed as it is one of my favourite RPG games ever. (It's huge, got a innovation combat system, excellent soundtrack and for once it does things right that other RPG should of done before.)

I admit I wanted to make a user review alongside with The Last Story but sadly it's too late now since it will be out for you lots (had a hard time thinking of the review layout and what to say about it).

I preordered it but I was wondering, in the dub do all the characters sound British? That would be hilariously awesome.

So you mean it's like a JRPG? Isn't that why people like it?

I'm super excited! I've had this game preordered for months!

I can't wait to get this! It looks like it's going to be so awesome!

Ahhh, it sucks though, since I'm at college right now I have the game preordered in a different town. I had to get someone to bring it to me so I have to wait until the 8th before I can play it. T-T

Still excited though!

I already have it imported.

Hands down the best game on the Wii.
How can you say that? Even if you do import it, the Wii is region locked, so there's no way you could have.
He probably hacked his Wii so it can play games from different regions. Either that or he has a foreign Wii of the same region as the region he imported the game from.

I HOPE he didn't tamper with his Wii. That's an unforgivable betrayal to gaming.
I didn't mod it so I could pirate, I just needed a way to back up my games.

I don't care! You tampered with your system! You betrayed Nintendo's trust! If you need to back up memory, buy an SD card!
I think you might be overreacting a little bit here... I don't think it's really that big a deal. There's no reason to blow it out of proportion.

Being from the UK I've had it for a while. I will say this though: GET HYPED! If you've got any doubts, cast them aside. Americans, believe me when I say that it's the greatest game to ever grace the Wii. Of course that's just this one man's humble opinion, but there you have it.

Ahh! Damnit! I don't wanna wait ten more days! Waaa...

It sounds really awesome though, I kinda wish it wasn't coming out so near finals so I would have more time to play it. Oh well, I'll make time!

Settle down, Beavis. I modded mine too, which apparently makes me The Great Satan, but it was only so I could play the games I already owned. The DVD drive started dying so I was getting disc read errors in games, but it still works well enough that I can dump them to a USB stick (sometimes taking a couple tries at a lower speed than would work in-game). Being able to run the games off there instead of the disc itself meant I could play them without having to pay $75 for a new DVD drive or buy an entirely new Wii, which is a bit expensive when you're unemployed. And I do look forward to playing Xenoblade Chronicles some day when I can. A legitimate copy of it even, believe it or not.

I was actually pretty disappointed by it :/

The environments are amazing, probably some of the best I've seen in a JRPG. And the quests and NPCs feel almost limitless yet usually don't get tedious. There are TONS of sidequests and stuff to do outside the main story and the game does give a good sense of adventure.

But the story and characters were so boringgg. Only the brash lovable idiot best friend character had any sort of charisma, and the main character is just painful to experience. Like, the main character was actually a huge negative for me. Other characters were stereotypes (not even interesting stereotypes) with zero personality, which doesn't hurt it for me, but goddamn I hated the main character. And despite having such an interesting concept, everything always ended up being ridiculously predictable, even (especially) when the game thought it wasn't.

I thought the combat was okay. You fall into a basic rhythm of the same exact rotation of moves. It often feels like soloing in an MMORPG. That said, boss fights were often really fun.

You should have gotten the legitimate copy in the first place. There is NO excuse for hacking a game system!
Are you for real? Like, is this actually how you are and not some silly internet persona? The guy isn't hurting anything or anyone. He has a totally legitimate excuse.

Clearly you have never played Madworld. Or Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
Yeah I played Madworld. Haven't tried the other one but I dunno, recently Resident Evil has gone a bit downhill. I'm assuming it's a recent one?

Really? You think they're the best games on the Wii?Well each to their own I suppose

I wouldn't bother. It's an on-rails lightgun shooter and not even the best one on the Wii(that would be House of the Dead:Overkill imo)
