Just had to post about this game as I cant see much mention of it here or indeed hardly anywhere else.
I bought this game on a whim after remembering something about its supposed release in the EU when I checked about two months ago there was nothing listed when I next looked its release was Friday the 19th August (which was two days time at point of checking), where the hell was the coverage and marketing I literally saw no promotion of this game at all outside of that small magazine article a few months ago (literally playing card size) and as for product placement my local game store dosent even stock it (the manager had never heard of it probably because hes to busy trying to sell me MW3 on preorder....again, That guy is obsessed) while the one in weston super mare I happened to visit on Thursday were getting 4 copies apparently, because its the wii and no one buys for the wii I was told.

Yeah so im just wondering have any of you heard much on it outside certain forums trying to get it ported outside Japan? or even better have any of you played it?

I got my copy Saturday morning and as of Sunday night had racked up a ridiculous 25 hours something of playtime, yes it really is that good and in many ways is easily one of the best RPGS I have ever played (so far) the areas to explore are huge while the combat is fun and fast, characters are charming as well (helped by decent voice acting).

Its not perfect thats for sure some of the quests can get annoying and finding your way around can be confusing also the gem crafting needs a better tutorial but that dosent detract from the fact that for me its easily the best RPG this generation (hopefully it wont fall apart later in) and after Valkyria Chronicles (another game that received little coverage) is my favourite game in the last 10 years.

Apparently Nintendo are keeping an eye on the sales figures to see if it merits a NA release but how the hell is it supposed to sell if no one knows about it?

I implore anyone who likes RPGS J or W to give this a look and if possible try it out.

questions:-
1. Have you heard much on it?
2. Have you played/purchased it?
3. Do you like/hate it or are you uninterested?
4. (a)Why do you think a game which seems to receive quite high positive remarks from the few reviews and previews of it gets so little marketing? (b) is Nintendo uninterested in a game for their system that has the potential to bring back their more traditional core audience or do you think its just their efforts are more focused on the 3DS and Wii U.

p.s If anyone finds any sales figures for the EU launch of this game post them up it would be interesting to know. ok rant over.

10(10)L.A. Noire (360/PS3)

So it isn't doing too badly chart wise in the UK. Considering pretty much all retailers in the UK have sold out, I think thats probably limiting it as well. It may have gotten even higher than that otherwise.

1. Have you heard much on it?
Tonnes, been hyped for ages.
2. Have you played/purchased it?
Got it on Friday, put about 25-30hours nto it.
3. Do you like/hate it or are you uninterested?
I quite like it so far, despite how much time I've put into it, I'm still not even at the half way point in terms of story, so I can't really give my full opinion yet. The amount of content is staggering though.
4. (a)Why do you think a game which seems to receive quite high positive remarks from the few reviews and previews of it gets so little marketing?
Marketing costs money, positive reviews don't. Simple as. Mind you they have done some online advertising. Like I've been seeing a lot of Xenoblade adverts on sites I go to, so they might help. Infact I remember hearing that they were primarily focusing on online advertising rather than TV spots.
(b) is Nintendo uninterested in a game for their system that has the potential to bring back their more traditional core audience or do you think its just their efforts are more focused on the 3DS and Wii U.
The thing is, I don't think Reggie/NoA thought it was going to sell very well, especially considering the last game they brought over, S&P2, was a flop pretty much. You find in a lot of cases, despite a lot of people seemingly shouting for a game, it's actually just a vocal minority. For example people using a different username on another forum. Even taking into account operation rainfall. How many pre-orders it would take to get the game to the top of the Amazon chart is insignificant comparing to the amount of games you need to shift to make the localisation worthwhile. I don't doubt they're also focusing far too much on the 3DS and Wii U than they should as well, which doesn't really help the matter.

1. Have you heard much on it?

Yes, since I've been looking out for information on it.

2. Have you played/purchased it?

No, >.< and I probably won't be able to buy it for 2 or more months unfortunately.

3. Do you like/hate it or are you uninterested?

I am very Interested in it, the problem is that I don't have the money to buy it or a wii at the moment.

A: it's a JRPG, they probably don't have much faith in it
B: Nintendo hasn't shown any interest in bringing it to America so they don't seem all that keen on it.
