Just when i thought they had brought us everything cool. They give us this.

http://xkcd.com/657/large/

I would post the picture myself but unfortunately its 3274 x 2067.

Its a graph of the proximities of each character in relation to each other graphed against a timeline. It shows Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (the original 3), Jurassic Park, 12 Angry Men, and Primer. And it is awesome.

So what do you lot think of this? Cool? Lame? Waste of time?

How doesn't it work?
There's a response that can't be beat.

On topic, the charts are really cool, but it's 3 in the morning, and looking at them right now makes my mind go all fuzzy like a peach.

I'm sure any moment now someone's going to complain about Boba Fett's line ending where it does.

But Primer's one is easily the best. That film confused me to no end.

He missed the Emperor's one single scene with Vader and how they talked about wanting to turn Luke to the Dark Side

...I think

Eh, not my thing. It takes more time for me to get a laugh out of it than to watch the movies.
...Or I could think of that old skittles commercial with the elf chick that looked just like the LOTR scene in the elf place. XD

I wondered about that too. Perhaps because they don't have physical proximity. Luke's encounter with Obi-Wan's force ghost isn't shown either.

If it is accurate they put waaaaaayyyy too much time into doing that.
Just my thoughts exactly..
Though it is kinda funny watching characters pop in and out so randomly.
Then there is Primer.
That was funny.

You're analyzing it too much if it takes too long to get a laugh out of it. You're basically supposed to glance over the charts, have a couple "Yeah that seems about right" observations about it, then you get to the bottom line where you find out that the joke is about Primer's plot. If you're poring over every detail of the charts to make sure they're accurate, you're missing the point of the joke.

I just saw that and came over here. Whoda thunk that people would have picked up on it as well.

Awesome. Unnervingly elaborate and laughably time-consuming, but awesome nevertheless
