If it is accurate they put waaaaaayyyy too much time into doing that.
Almost. He missed the Scouring of the Shire; Saruman and Wormtongue, according to him, just disappear at the end of The Two Towers.
It's based on the movie instead of the book, Wormtongue and Sarumon did kinda just up and vanish at the end of two towers and they didn't have the Scouring of the shire(unfortunately)

I thought it was awesome! I'm a little annoyed that he chose the movie continuity over the book continuity for LotR, but then he did the same for Jurassic Park so I'll let it slide for the sake of consistency.

Where were the eagles in the movie? I think that I remember them from the books (I didn't pay very close attention to the books, so don't quiz me ^_^) but I can't remember if they were in the movie or not....The eagles line just happened to catch my eye since they kinda pop out of nowhere on the chart and... yeah. Were they in the movies?

they got Gandalf down from Isengard (implied) and got Frodo and Sam out of mt. Doom at the end too.

Pretty nice charts :p

You'd think Gandalf could've just ridden an eagle from Isengard, found Frodo, flown him to the top of Mt. Doom and tossed the ring in on a fly-by.

But I suppose that wouldn't have made much of a book series then, would it?

Eh. Like most of XKCD I find it too gimmicky. Too "hey look I'm a nerd lol".

Also, you have to be pretty dense not to get Primer.

He missed the Emperor's one single scene with Vader and how they talked about wanting to turn Luke to the Dark Side

...I think
It's only when the characters are physically together. Telephone, hologram, stuff like, i don't think it counts.

What about the Extended version? They must have done it then...

12 Angry Men made me laugh more than Primer, but jeebus the "serious" charts are irritatingly complex. Good thing I decided to scan over them to the end, laugh, look puzzlingly at the last one (I never saw Primer, could be why it wasn't as funny for me), then go back and look closer to see the details and see where all the lines go. Wiki has taught me much this day.
Trust me if you ever watch primer you'll under stand it. You'll laugh your ass off. I love time travel storys/movies. I've seen everyone I can get my hands on, I own all three back to the futures and have figured out the timeline in my head, I have seen the time machine, and read it, and I even figured out the story All You Zombies by robert Heinlein, wich if anyones ever read it, they'll understand when I say it hurt my mind to figure out. Having said that, Primer is a movie that is about time travel, and I barley even got the jist of what happened. It's a well written, well made, interesting movie, but it is confusing as all hell, so that graph is extremly acurate.

OP: I LOVE XKCD. I check it every monday, wendsday, and friday, and sometimes other days out of hope that they might post something a day earlie or something (I can dream can't I?) I completely forgot today was monday, so I didn't check it today, after I saw the name of this thread I went straight over, and was amazed yet again. This is awsome.
Thank god for XKCD!
