This thread is for anyone...(yes anyone) who has not read every single XKCD. Start from number 1 and read them all. Just brilliant.

It's very slow at the start and only gets good at around a hundred but some of the beginning ones provide backlog and if you become a fan you will regret not reading them 1-by-1.

Best comic ever in my opinion...

I don't even GET xkcd.
I read all of them and only a couple were remotely funny.
Most people don't get it, but that doesn't mean its not good if you do!

i love them. when it comes to the occasional mathamatical comic, i don't get it, but i understand most of them, and some of the mouse-over messages are funny as hell

In my opinion it just like throwing a darts at a target blindfolded. Some of them will hit the mark but most of them won't.

I never really enjoyed something so random, sure some of them are funny but it's just to much of an effort to read it all for some jokes.

XKCD is a personal favorite of mine. Math + funneh + stick people = love?

Lots of the jokes don't 'hit the mark' seeing as the author is 20x smarter than me, but it's worth reading it for the few that do. I'd reccomend it to anyone.

Yeah. My friend who knows about 10 different programming languages recommended it, and it's great. I don't get the most math stuff, but i can kinda get a bit of the computer stuff. Overzealous Autoconfig FTW!

I "get" XKCD. I know what a genetic algorithm is. I'm not a physicist but I understand the physics jokes. I know who Stallman and Doctorow are. I've seen Firefly. I'm familiar with raptors and "your mom" jokes and all that pop-culture stuff. So, on the basis of all that, I can say...

Meh. It's honestly not that good.

Now, it's not bad, mind you.

But, as I read it, I find it constantly coming up short against deeper, edgier work. Between the romance and the free-software geekery, the comic has got this self-congratulatory tone that I find absolutely irritating. XKCD spends more time being cute than it does actually being funny. And it spends far, far more time reassuring you than it does challenging you -- if you're a geek who likes Stephen Hawking books and Skynet jokes and campaigning against DRM, XKCD is just going to constantly pat you on the head and remind you how much of a fun, witty, clever person you really are. Pablum makes for weak humor.

(Still, one could do much worse. For example: VGCats, Dresden Codak, Sluggy Freelance.)

You do realize that this is an American site, staffed by "average" Americans. In fact most of our fantastic content is contributed by Americans. Try and be a just a little more sensitive, and smarter, on THIS American site. That is all.

I downloaded the pic of the dinosaur one and made it into a T-Shirt since it wasn't available to buy anywhere... got the Tshirt for like £4 including pnp. Go me! (before talking to me you should know... I am kind of strange)

It's OK.... XKCD does have it's moments.
But none of them have really made me burst out laughing, just a mere chuckle at best.*Wears fireproof suit*

I don't think that this site is staffed by average Americans as most people underestimate how fast a lot of average Americans would be banned. Remember people nerdiness is a step away from average even if the whole world is nerdy.

iq does not equal intelligence

as for getting xkcd it's not hard to get, it's just doesn't have big shiny flashy arrows at the joke, it's an intelligent humour

I do quite enjoy Randall's humour. Partly because it allows me to learn random facts, because I hate not knowing something and when it's brought up in a comic the first thing I do is google it. =)
That way, if it ever comes up that I need it, I'm set, while if I don't, it hasn't hurt me.

Ba dum, tish.
