Oh and another thing. Believe it or not some aspergers sufferers have normal and healthy social lives. In fact for me my aspergers is more of a boon than a drawback as it makes me HIGHLY intelligent. In fact my lack of social graces is more to do with my utter disdain for most of humanity than my condition. I really don't like a lot of people.

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes Yahtzee compares "clusterfuck" games to Asperger's Syndrome? Sometimes I find it offensive even though much of his jokes are funny. Started to really notice that comparison pop up round about the time of the The World Ends With You review he did, but I don't remember the names of the other reviews he used the comparison in.

Now I know by posting this I risk the ire of the Yahtzee fanboys, but I don't think anyone else has bothered to bring it up, and I would be interested in knowing exactly WHY Yahtzee occasionally continues to use such a controversial comparison which I as a person with the condition of Asperger's sometimes find a bit off putting when watching an otherwise hilarious review. Yes, my brain occasionally is clustered up and confused when overloaded with requests to do a number of household tasks, but all the same on the autistic spectrum I'm otherwise "high-functioning".

And please, for the love of God, Buddha, Cthulhu, Allah, and Vishnu, don't turn this into a thread filled with "ASSBURGERS" comments or associated .jpgs, as this would demean an honest question. I normally laugh very hard at Yahtzee's reviews and it is only this one troubling aspect of his material which I find offensive.
I personally believe Yahtzee HAS aspergers syndrome, i have for quite a while. He seems to have many similar personality traits to myself a person with 'high functioning' aspergers syndrome.

All of you awkward eternal virgins don't have Asperger's syndrome. It's a very rare condition that contrary to popular belief doesn't manifest itself with "1337 h4x012 5k1ll5".
Scan your medical history, bills, prescriptions etc. and put it here or you don't have Asperger's just like I don't have Tourette's, even though I curse all the time.

edit: If you had authism (and AS is a form of it) you wouldn't even watch Yahtzee's reviews because you wouldn't grasp the normal humor at all.
Bullshit mate. I have aspergers syndrome, and no i did not just 'say' I had it. I was diagnosed with it at age 9. and i understand the humour in Zero Punctuation perfectly. In fact i use a similar brand of humour in every day life. I am a so called 'High functioning' aspergers sufferer.

Edit: I personally find his aspergers jokes funny as the 'self diagnosed' aspergers crowd actually tend to me more socially awkward. I just think he has it.
Agreed, Yahtzee does seem to show the traits of an Aspergian.

And Kukul and the responders, both of you need to stop being asses.
Are you calling me an ass sir? If so i shall have to ask you to step outside!
No, mainly that beddo guy.
I was kidding. Why does no one ever get my Monty Python references?

I kind of got it, I don't watch Monty Python that much though.
My father loved it so i think I've seen ever episode of Flying Circus like twice. I have a very good memory so it stuck.

Dear god, this thread went on longer than it needed to.

Like someone said, its just Yahtzee's style of humor. It's nothing to take offense to in the long run. I employ a rather offensive style of humor of my own but those that know me, such as my friends or co-workers, know that I'd never really mean any of it.

They're just words. Words don't hurt.

The normal media would have you believe in their Political Correctness point of view in that everyone is equal. Well, clearly, that's a lie. We're all equal in human rights, yes, but we're not equal in every other quality; the qualities that make us all unique individuals. They attempt to pigeonhole us into predefined stereotypes of their own standards which is wrong, wrong, wrong. Thankfully, there's freedom from such bull-honky on the internet.

I believe that everyone is fair game for humor regardless of condition, race, gender, lifestyle, etc. If everyone can laugh and tease one another in good fun, it relieves overall stress and everyone has a good time.

It's important to be able to laugh at yourself. Often times, most people in the world take themselves too seriously. Life's too short to give a damn.

It's not a sentece, because there is no verb in it and you don't have to know be a fluent English speaker to know that,
Fair play, I wasn't paying attention there however, your original post:

"All of you awkward eternal virgins don't have Asperger's syndrome"

Clearly is a sentence, which is purposefully offensive claiming that people who struggle with social relationships try and hide behind autism. I fail to see how that is not intended to be offensive.

which leads me to my point:
Let's see you writing in your second language and have some laughs, how about that?
And no, you are the troll, because you are the first one to make arguments ad personam

P.S: I wouldn't exchange my education for yours even if you gave me shitloads of money as a bonus.
I don't need to write in a second language because English is so prevalent in the World. I can speak a little in German, French and Italian but by no means enough to get by. Like I say, I don't need to.

I questioned your post legitimately for its arrogance and ignorance. It is acceptable to denounce an argument that is prefaced with a contentious and offensive statement.

It doesn't really matter what you think about the UK education system, I'm sure all of the Soviet influenced nonsense you were taught will get you by in life.

Can't pick and choose. I'm an ADHD half-jew and he makes fun of both groups all the time. If you laughed at those jokes (and I did) and complain about the Asperger's Syndrome jokes then you are being hypocritical.

"You're a liar, and you'll never have sex." Hm... sounds like an insult. Granted, a very juvenile one, but the definition fits. Fairly personal, too, unless you're banking on the technicality that it wasn't actually personal, since he was claiming this to be the case for everyone who posted before him.

Kukul said:

*laughs* This fellow actually seems to believe that sharing medical documents in online forum discussion threads is a normalized, casual practice that everyone engages in. Hey, guys, good posts today, lots of interesting topics... oh yeah, sorry I wasn't online yesterday, I had the flu. Here's my doctor's note, scanned and uploaded as a .jpg. Seriously? ...Moron.

I recognize that for no clear reason whatsoever you seem to be feeling personally offended that NewGeekPhilosopher and the other Escapists here are engaging in a discussion with a premise that at least some of the participants are informed on this condition by virtue of being afflicted with it personally. Why this shocked you into storming into the discussion like a drunken bull, splashing incontributing dissonance and unfounded disbelief everywhere like cheap wine from a dirty bottle, I have absolutely no idea. What I do know is that you're a hypocrite and an instigator who has contradicted himself thrice over already just within his own posts. You have no sympathy from me for English being your second language (you'll note I chose to take you at your word on that, instead of demanding you produce papers proving your deliberate study of it), since you seem dead-set on using the language for what appears to me to be absolutely no real purpose whatsoever.

Come to think of it... I find a certain amount of humor in the idea of someone studying a language as insufferably complex as English for the years required to attain fluency, only to have the ultimate product of all that knowledge be a series of trolling posts on an online forum.

You don't have to go home, Kukul, but if you're going to stay here, do us the favor of being quiet from now on. Mommy and Daddy are talking.

NewGeekPhilosopher, I like the progression of thought you've evidenced since the beginning of the topic, here. Yahtzee does indeed love to attune his commentary toward offending any and everyone he can to make his points with extra flair, and your ability to come around to realizing there is no personal offense intended shows maturity in your character. My regards, friend.

You missed one of the points about ZP. Being that it's offensive. And if you enjoy that, you can't complain when the joke happens to be on you.
That sums it up for me. I'm sure some people get offended when he says "pants-on-head retarded." I'm sure people who enjoy games he didn't even give a chance feel frustrated. I'm sure WoW players don't like how he treats MMOs. Or his comment about being white enough to own all the consoles, or his references to ADD and such. Etc, etc.

It's going to offend people, and he tries to change the demographic now and then to be funnier to others. If you can't laugh at yourself, I don't recommend watching it.

This image seems to sum up this thread perfectly.

The solution has been posted among the several now branching arguments: he's a comic, take it as lightly as possible.

This, I think, sums everything up perfectly. Best applied to all forms of comedy, I think.

I could hug you... But according to the stereotypical view Kukul has of aspergers sufferers i hate hugs... Oh well no hug for you... Also i find nothing on the escapist funny, i just browse it and watch Zero Punctuation every week even though i can't understand the humour. Oh... i seem to have emptied my big back of irony.
Edit: Only the wanting to hug you part applies to your post.

Anyone who ends an "intellectual smackdown", as I fondly refer to such posts, with "My regards, friend" appears in my mind as either Gandalf or at least an old wisdomful dude in a suit with a walking stick so bravo on that!

On topic, it seems like everything that can be said has been so that's good to see we've learnt some things.

PS: The trolling on this thread is entertaining.. but there's so much of it I keep thinking we're in the Mines of Moria.
