Mine was in Halo Wars. I was playing Brute Chieftan and my oppont was playing Anders. After I beat off his rush i countered with the Chieftan some grunts and brutes and pretty wiped the floor with him. When I started destroying his base he sent the first one

"You are a big fat gay homosexual loser"

Actually made me laugh.

360: after a match of CoD4 where I got a 30-something kill streak and 1 death. The other team was a clan, all of which started sending me hate messages calling me a cheating bastard, no life loser, reporting me for cheating, etc.
I've never cheated, they just sucked and I got lucky.

PS3: search and destroy in MW2 both teams had 1 person alive and I was on defending. I saw him run into the area of the bomb plant spot so I judged the arc and distance of a throwing knife from the spot. Out of pure luck I hit him with the throwing knife. I got a ton of messages from him (I didn't block him because some were funny) saying that Im a cheating fuck and used a "knife guiding mod" which I've never even heard of existing.

You can't win all the games or do well in all of them, something learned from CoD MW2 and Halo 3.

Someone who goes out of their way to send you a hate message after a game because you didn't get a heap loads of kills is taking the game to personally and strikes me as someone who rage quits a lot, so just ignore them.

Your kill/death ratio in a game is just a series of numbers in a game that is shown on a screen, forget about them and you will have more fun.

Of all my Xbox live 'career' I think I've got two friend requests, a lot of lobby invites for sniping only and such and one person calling me a 'mug' for warning them about some boosters in free for all (MW2) so I think I'm doing ok at the moment.

Mine first hate message was when I was playing Phantasy Star Universe(awesome game)
Besides the regular chat messages on screen, an x-box message popped up saying someone had sent me a voice message. This came after killing a giant teleporting robot boss in the middle of the desert.
It went as follows.(be sure to read it in Christopher Walkens voice.)
*ahem*
Fuck You!
You Think Kill Stealing a boss makes you hot shit!?
*some incomprehensible raaaaage*
Next time stay at the fuckin plaza and pick up 40 year old men you fucking ******!
I've had tons more since then, and all were creative and unique. Using various terms I've never had teh pleasure of experiencing before.

To be honest, I've never had one. I'm sure it'll happen one day though.

I was playing TF2 (PS3) and was a pyro defending my base. I kept killing this one guy, who was always a spy, and eventually dominated him. After I killed him a couple more times he then called me a "faggit" and a "camping pussy" over and over. :)

Nope, I've stayed clean so far, though to be fair, I only recently got Xbox Live..
Can't say I like SWAT very much. Though I'm fairly able to pinpoint an enemy's head and throw a bullet in its general direction, the fights just aren't fun. Whoever shoots first usually wins, since the only strategy involved is 'aim for the head'.

Not sure if this was my first but it's the first one I remember. I quit a 1v1 on lost planet, and he sends me a voice message saying something along the lines of I hope your queen dies.

Dear god. SWAT is the antichrist. I hate it sooooo much. Completely boring, removes every interesting thing from Halo. I don't have a clue why so many people vote for it, but it's thankfully getting its own playlist sometime soon.
SWAT is the only game mode I like because it actually relies on some skill, rather than getting killed with power weapons, melee kills and grenade spamming.
This is a common argument I hear in favour of SWAT. I disagree entirely. Regular Halo does take "some skill" - if anything it takes more skill than Team SWAT, since in SWAT you only ever have to know how to use one weapon and no armour abilities. You don't have to learn the different properties of the weapons, their placement on the map, how to guess what angle to throw a grenade at to hit somebody, how to perfectly time an Armour Lock to deflect a rocket, or any number of additional things. It does not take more skill than the other halo gametypes, that's bullshit. /rant
I don't think SWAT takes a lot of skill. Most of the fights involve turning the corner and having the victor be decided whose trigger-finger is most itchy. I would like to see it get it's own playlist, that way I can play some good 'ol slayer.

I used to get hate mail on MW2 all the time when I played well. It just pisses people off when you own them several games in a row.

Anyway 'Reach Rant' over, still remember your first hate message on Xbox Live, PSN or Wii for that matter?
Sacre Bleu! No PC? What nerve! (jk. lol)

OT: Um... I'd say that while I haven't gotten any hate-messages, a friend of mine and I were playing Left 4 Dead 2 on PC the other day, and during the match, one of the people on our team said something to the other guy we didn't know that was something like, "Yeah, I know this kinda sucks. Not every team is all that great."

Of course, both my friend and I drew a conclusion that they were directed at us. For the record, I'm more than certain I could have finished the finale had one of those two bastards not friendly-fired me and done enough damage to slow me down where I couldn't break away from the infected fast enough. You can say all you want about how good you are, but when you don't even apologize for hurting teammates in a situation like that, I could care less.

I have never got any hate message. I have only got some positive mails.
Like when I was playing TF2 and I managed to kill the entire team with pyro, Some told me that I was a "Crazy Son of a *****, and that was a compliment" I was touched.

got my first and only while playing red dead redemption, some guy picked a fight with me while i was in pike's basin, i happen not to use the auto aim of the game so often so i was at a distinct advantage during a gang hideout, anyway, he picks a fight with me, i end up killing him ALOT, by the end of it i've given up using guns and switched to the throwing knife, after the hide outs done, i leave and he starts chasing me, i stop, get off my horse and use deadeye to knife him from a good 100-125 yards, he leaves the session and i start getting messages about how much of a little ***** i am, and how a fag for cheating and that he was gonna get me banned. in the end i had a good lol, and i showed it to my friends later.

I got my very first hate message on one of my very first online sessions of GTA IV. It didn't seem to be specifically directed at me, though. It was just some short message about how America sucks. And it's not like anyone could tell my nationality since I wasn't wearing a headset.

(This was PSN, btw)
I got my first one because This guy kept trying to teamkill me during GTAIV
So, I kept him on my watch and then found out hee bought RDR.
I had RDR...So....we're enemies due to the fact that I simply go out of my way to kill him.

Every.
Damn.
Time.

I really haven't gotten any at all, since the people on Steam (at least for TF2, I can't speak for other games) are all actually fairly polite.

I wasn't even remotely worried that I would get banned, as I wasn't cheating and the guy was an idiot for thinking that I was (also apparently a sore loser), but the "drive-by tongue lashing" move struck me as a very rude thing to do - so I took a screenshot of the entire conversation, posted it on our forum, and intimated to my guild that I wouldn't be particularly sad to see him bombarded with PMs from a host of random strangers.
This is the correct response for any MMO bs.

OT; I think my fist came from playing on a clan server for BF2142. I was one maning a battlewalker and doing well at it. (half the round one walker) I managed to take out one sad little flyboy from the AA position several times. He got pissed and (as he was a "mod") I got baned.

Then comes the process of find the clans website and debaiting the ban. I post what I did the flyboy raged his clan mates called him out on it (turns out he was a dick still on probationary mod privs) and I was back in good standings.

I think the only hate mail I ever got was back when I played Planetside, and that was only one or two that I can't remember.
Other than that, I remember being abused one time over the headset back in my shameful days when I played Halo 3. One or two American twats kept telling me I knew the queen (im English if that wasn't obvious), and that I should fuck off and eat crumpets with her and speak with a posh accent. However they only started telling me this after they heard my voice, not to do with my gameplay ability.
