The idea of the thread came to me while talking about the functionality of New Vegas (as in bugs and stuff), and it reminded me of a TERRIBLE bug i came across while playing for the first time Fallout 3.

It all started as normal, you getting born, you taking your first steps, all until I arrive at the birthday party. While I was in the party I went up the stairs and I walked into another area (strange since the door should have been locked). and I was defenceless, little child without weapons or means to attack, and dead people and radroaches all over the place trying to kill you, dead bodies all over the place, and no way of returning to the birthday party, i finally managed to get to the overseer room (without any people present for some reason) but I couldn't open the door... It was child proof. That was a scary episode at the time.

So tell me, what is your memorable bug?

EDIT: Im not talking about the biggest, or worst bug, but the most memorable of yours.

Pokémon Blue. I caught a Missingno (or 'M' as it is labeled in that version), then went to fight with it in Pallet Town. Funny thing, catching Missingno causes level 563 Clefables to appear on Route 1. Missingno also looked like the old man who teaches you to catch Pokémon in battle.

It then resets your save file soon after.

Fun time.

My most memorable is also off Fallout 3.

When you get Contract Killer as a perk, you can trade in ears to
Daniel Littlehorn at the Scrapyard.
I found an exploit, where everytime you pickpocket him, he'd have an ear in his pocket that you can sell to him. The weird part wasn't the ear (which is on good people, which he obviously isn't) on his body, but rather, when I shot him with my Gauss Rifle, he'd get stuck halfway in the wall.
When he got up, his whole body would flip out all over the room. It was funny as hell.

The "Black Room of Death" glitch is the bug I remember the most. In Super Mario 64, after getting all 120 stars, you gain access to the cannon outside the castle. You're supposed to use it to reach the roof, where you'll find Yoshi waiting, but if you aim for a certain spot on the castle's tallest spire, you can end up somewhere altogether more strange [http://www.mariowiki.com/images/7/75/SM64_BRoD1.png].

Looking back, there's nothing particularly stunning about the glitch itself. It's a simple clipping error, fairly common to early polygon games. When I was a kid, though, a certain amount of mystique surrounded the glitch (hence the melodramatic name). Bear in mind, this was back when the Internet wasn't quite as ubiquitous as it is today, and most videogames with secrets to hide were still shrouded in mystery. Over the years, I heard the Black Room linked to everything from being able to unlock Luigi to finding a portal to a "secret second world" with new levels to play.

Save corruption is always fun!

But it was a glitch in (what else) Fallout 3.

I exited VATS, and suddenly found the body of the Bloatfly I'd been targeting stretched out into infinity.

I always evolved mine into a Kangaskhan. Never seemed to have anything else appear than a level 300-something Cloyster. I loved that bug: it was a great way to max out supplies if you didn't want to bother fighting pokemon, or just wanted an army of kabutos.

Mine is yet again in Fallout 3. I was headed south when I came across the event of a group of wastelanders running from a Deathclaw. Never saw the thing until I hit Tenpenny tower, as it had apparently spawned inside the gates.

Ghostbusters on the PS2.

Where to start....

-physics go wonky
-levels refuse to load
-you get sent into the skybox instead of the actual level
-Ghosts can insta-kill you
-in the hotel level, Peter and Ray inexplicably vanish
-and in the final level, the game crashes constantly.
-Open a door? CRASH
-Solve a puzzle? CRASH
-Start a cutscene? CRASH
-Kill the final boss? Save data automatically erased.

The people who made this game have never heard of QA.

I had a glitch when playing spore on my old (bad) computer. When I had finished the cell stage, and was going up on land with my species, they refused to go up on land during the cutscene. So when it started, my nest was in the ocean, and everyone was swimming around by it. As I go up on land to get some food however, that giant lake creature popped up and ate me. This happened several times.

My boyfriend said he wanted to try an RPG that wasn't Final Fantasy, so I tried to introduce him to Oblivion. He spent at least thirty minutes creating his character, then spent maybe an hour running around and doing a couple quests, and saved constantly, but because of a glitch in save files his game ended up getting overwritten. It caused him to lose interest and now he won't touch Oblivion again.
Oh well. There's still hope for Dragon Age.

This is more frustrating than fascinating, but in a glitch on Minecraft, the game crashes and you have to restart. When you restart, however, the game 'forgets' which blocks have been mined/placed. So the game forgot the bridge I built over the lava.

I spawned on thin air and dropped to a firey death.

Some of the Halo 2 maps had bugs, but my personal favorite was on that reddish wasteland map(forgot its name) you can get into the sky box and when you die your body suddenly becomes giant and floats above the map.

Fallout 3 had a crash bug for me, where if I had more than 6 saves in the save folder the game would crash if I went into VATS.

So, after getting pretty far into the story, and countless crashes (and attempts at fixing the bug) I just stopped playing the game. I would have liked to finish the game, but it wasn't worth the frustration.

Gta San Andreas. There was a cheat that gave CJ a Pink dildo and a black gimp outfit, and for whatever reason the game froze when the cheat was activated. Most awkward image to have stuck on the screen when relatives walk in.
