OK the question is achievements do you enjoy them as a fun part of a game or just something that has no real purpose?

Me i see no use for them unless there is something worthwhile at the end of it all.

(i forgot to add post i do not know how to fix it )

I enjoy them. some are a little Dicey, like taking out a tank with a melee weapon only. others are great, like 25 headshots with the Sniper (Heavys head is so small)

Yeah. I like 'em.

They don't need to be there, and I won't ever play a game just for the achievements. But there's nice. I'd never have bothered with harder difficulties without them. I don't like a challenge very much.

Thank god the Steam ones are fairly ignorable.
NO! BAD, FURBURT, BAD!

Achievements are achievements. Just because they come from the holy gods at Valve doesn't make them any different.

Depends. I'm a sucker for achievements in that online game I play. XBox achievements - not always. And I don't play it much.

As long they are actual achievements (tf2).
Not a reward for completing normal stuff( mass effect 2 ).

I never said they were good, just that they don't interfere with the game or the way people play it as much as the Xbox or PS3 ones.

That doesn't mean they're great though, if anyone comes onto my game of Left 4 Dead going 'Hey guys, I need you to help me get this achievement' I'm the first one to tell him to fuck off so we can play the game properly.
I coulda sworn that you got unlocks for achievements in TF2...

I love achievements, or trophies, because they reward you for doing something completely irrelevant and meaningless.

I don't play much online and I think they are useless in single player. All they do there is pop up all the time and break my all important immersion. I never play competitively when I do play online so they aren't much help to me there either. Most of the time I just find them annoying.

The only place I can see that they would be useful is in an online game where you can get specific achievements to get new items. I.e. TF2 before they broke the item system.

I never really cared about achievements, it's nice to have them, but I won't be playing a game just to get them, I play the games I play because I like them.
