So, those of you who have been here for a while will no doubt have probably noticed that whenever I go on vaction, I always make a thread detailing it, complete with pictures. Those of you who haven't been here for a while, you're in luck, since this is the first one of my vaction threads you get to see (in case you missed the first two, they can be found here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.201466-My-first-anime-convention-WITH-PICTURES#6669130] and here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.226742-My-trip-to-Gettysburg-With-Pictures#7754678]).
Anyway, this is a throwback to my first vacation thread, since I went back to Colossalcon in the far too sunny Sandusky, Ohio. We actually stayed at the hotel this time, which was very nice, but a lot more expensive, but the cool part was it was just a downstairs walk to the convention.
And by god the convention was awesome! The costumes were cool, the panels were fun, the dealers had lots of fun stuff, and yes, there were free hugs. Though it seems that some people just like to mess with you. I saw this one girl who had written
on her stomach. Let break this convention down piece by piece, shall we.
First, the dealers. As we all know, spending money is sort of a rule at cons, so spend I did (I save all year for this thing). I ended up walking away with three swords, two daggers, a cyclone knife, two wall posters of Holo, a smaller poster of Panty and Stocking (from Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt), and three anime series: Chobits, Chrono Crusade and season 1 of Spice & Wolf (hands up everyone who didn't see that last one coming). They also had Bawls (very high caffeine energy drink) in the game room, so naturally, I bought four of them. And strangely enough, out of all the games they had there, the only thing I played was Rock Band.
Anyway, on to the panels. I won't go into every panel I went to, because we would probably be here all week listening to me rave about them, so I'll just go with the more awesome ones. First was a panel named "Nerdy Boys Get All the Babes". Really the only reason I went to that one was to prove it wrong. I didn;t realize that they would be calling people up. So, naturally, my friends made me go up. I think at that point the panel turned into a stand up comedy act. I even had a large group of girls come up to me afterwards and ask me "How are you still single?! You're hilarious!". Even the person running the panel said that. I was talking a little fast (like I normally do), so she said "Can you talk slower?", to which I immediately retorted "Can you listen faster?". That crack made the room erupt with laughter.
I also went to Dirty Dirty Fanfiction again. I won't go too deep into detail about that, as it's more fully described in my first thread. After that was a panel on Vocaloid, which was awesome (and yes we did listen to some songs, including my favorite, Romeo and Cinderella). The next panel was called The Five Rings of Musashi, with particular attention to the Scroll of Emptiness. Oh, and if anyone tells you philosophy can't be bloody amusing, slap them, because this panel proves that notion wrong. After that was Japanese for Beginners. It's exactly what it sounds like, and really the only funny thing that happened there was after we learned greetings, the host asked two people to come up and demonstrate. She chose me and one other person, who turned out to pick stuff up very quickly. Needless to say, she then asked for two people who were less good.
After that, I hung out at karaoke for a while, which was awesome since they let you sing in Japanese. So naturally I sang Kimi O Nosete from Castle in the Sky and Inori from Romeo X Juliet. The next panel I went to was called The Science (and Art) of the Con Hookup. It was intended to be completely satirical, but they made it look like they were serious about the information, which just made it funnier.
Moving on, I went to a panel called The Church of Anime (and got a good crack at Scientology in), and then went to a panel on Rumiko Takahashi, most of which was spent talking about Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha. The next panel I went to was the most epic. It was called Miyazaki's Trial, and the person didn't show up, so after about 15 minutes, me and two other people said "Screw it, we're doing this ourselves". This was where I found out it is surprisingly easy to run a panel. Anyway, we renamed it the Miyazaki Mutiny Panel, and had a balst running that. So we're going to apply to do it again next year. The last two panels I went to were just showings of Princess Mononoke and Spice & Wolf (given my costume, I was a hit at the Spice & Wolf panel).
But enough of me yammering, I still have 90-some pictures to get through and it looks like this thread is already starting to reach intimidating length status (and from the looks of things, this thread might take up the first two posts). So, here we go!

The first picture on my list (I'm just going in alphabetical order from the names I gave these things), is Alex Mercer. I was rather impressed by the arm blade.
Next is Altair. Not much to say about this one, other than I didn't get stabbed.
One of the two big things to cosplay as this year was Hetalia Axis Powers. You would not believe how many Americas I saw there. I think the other one is Germany, but I'm not sure...
This is one of the people I went to the con with. He dressed as America, and was probably the best America I saw there.
Though I do prefer Princess Sally, Amy is pretty cool as well.
These were probably some of the most awesome costumes I've ever seen. I was told that hundreds of hours went into them. All I can say is massive props: I would not have had the patience for that.
Say what you will about Asuka from Neon Genesis: Evangelion, but you have to admit, she is pretty damn cute. Hence why I got the picture.
This costume was pretty good. Though I'm still curious as to whether Rei really thought she could go out in Unit 01 in the condition she was in at the time she was wearing this costume...

Ahh, good old Batman. And the Batgirl he has with him is supposed to be Batgirl a la Barbra Gordon.
Of course, what's a superhero without supervillans to fight, huh? How about three in the same picture?
Jack Sparrow, the greatest pirate who ever...Wait...There should be a "Captain" in there somewhere...
Hand up everyone who loved Castle Crashers. That everyone? Okay cool, then enjoy these pictures.
Well, seeing as Portal was awesome and Portal 2 was also awesome, it's expected that someone would come as Chell.
Another person I went to the con with. She decided to go as Chi from Chobits (I need to watch that after I finish Gankutsuou...)
This costume is almost certain to be seen at any con ever. So, here's Cloud.
Remember that bit in FFVII where they suggest Cloud dress as a girl? Yeah, not much more to say about this.

You might nor want to click on this picture if you play Minecraft. He might blow your stuff up. Again.
Behold! The only Marvel Comics character who knows he's in a comic book!
Well, I'm not quite sure what to make of this. We have the TARDIS, the 11th Doctor, K-9, and Sarah Jane. The awesome might be too much here.
Not actually any character I know of. I just thought the beard was epic enough to shame my DM.
Umbrion and Espion happen to be my favorite Eevee evolutions. So here's Espion.
We've already seen Altair. Let's take a look at Ezio.
These signs were all over. In case the picture isn't clear (it wasn't on the camera) it says "Free Hugs".
About time we saw some love for Miyazaki!
Apparently Panty and Stocking were around somewhere, but I didn't see them. I did see Garterbelt, however.

Everyone loves GIR. At least, I think everyone loves GIR...
Yes, people. She is still alive.
Though I first though TRON when I saw the black suit with orange lines, it's actually Gurren Lagann characters.
Remember how I said one of the big things to cosplay this year was Hetalia? Of course you should, I only said it (depending on your scroll speed) mere seconds ago. Well the other big thing was Vocaloid.
You know, when I decided to cosplay as Kraft Lawrence, I had resigned myself to the fact that very few people would know where I was from and there was almost no chance of seeing someone cosplay as Holo. I should slap myself for being that stupid.

Ahh, members of the Host Club. That's another one I need to watch...
MORE LOVE FOR MIYAZAKI! God I love this movie.
I think this costume is pretty sweet. Then again, who doesn't love Ico.
Let's go back to feudal Japan with Kagome from InuYasha, shall we?
Right, Kingdom Hearts time!

You remember how I said I wasn't expecting Holo to be there? I actually saw two Holos there. As soon as I can come up with a word that descibe exactly how awesome that was, I'll get back to you, ut in the meantime, look at the pics.
This was one of the first pictures I took. Don't worry, we'll get to see his alter ego later, so hold your horses.
Say what you will about Final Fantasy XIII, but I liked the character design of Lightning. Then again, maybe it was just that smexy gunblade...
This is actually the first time I've ever seen a Link cosplyer that included Navi (then again, I can understand why they usually don't).
No matter how many times I see them, I'm always torn on my feelings for the Little Sisters. On the one hand, they are tragic victims, but on the other, they carry Adam. Oh, what is a plasmid fueled nutcase to do...?
While I did see Mario there, he gets enough attention as is. Let's show Luigi some appriciation.
I don't care what anyone says, I think Luna Lovegood is freaking adorable!

More Vocaloid! (as if you could ever have enough)
Yet more Vocaloid!
It's always good to see some classic Pokemon characters nowadays...
Miyazaki again, this time from his first movie with Studio Ghibli.
I have never actually seen someone cosplay as Navi before. All I can say is, she's brave.
I talked to the guy about this costume. It took him about a month to make.
Finally! We get to Spirited Away! Go No Face!
