I'm planning to buy Skyrim Legendary edition(as soon as Game Stop opens) and am requesting suggestions for mods. I have a pretty good graphics card(can play SW:TOR and Stanley Parable and DA:O at high settings with no problem) but it can't come close to 4K, so nothing too demanding please. Also, no super big house mods, nor ridiculous "armor" mods(sexy=ok,slutty=not). I also don't want anything that deviates much from established lore. And links are appreciated.

Well, here's a topic about all of the generally most lauded mods I pulled from Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/1ttgm1/comprehensive_list_of_the_best_mods_for_skyrim/

I'd recommend browsing through those, but some of my favorites are
Immersive Armour and weapons: separately downlaodable, but both add a lot of variety to what gear you can equip, and are generally lore friendly.
SPERG: Stands for Skyrim Perk Enhancements and Rebalanced gameplay, and really makes your perks far more useful and varied. definitely recommend.
Skyrim UI: This is the mod i'd most recommend, due to making the interface look and work so much better.
SKSE: A script extender, basically required for most mods.
aMidian Books of Silence: A collection of texture updates that for just about everything ingame that will improve the visual quality immensely.

There are so many different mods though, so I'd browse through that list, then go to Nexus Mods, look through the most popular, and work from there. I'd want to put more, it would take too long. Have fun!

From my personal mod list:

-Faster Vanilla Horses (Because the horses in Skyrim are fucking slow)

-Run For Your Lives (This will cause villagers to run inside of their houses during a dragon attack. Fewer fatalities)

-When Vampires Attack (The same as Run For Your Lives but for the Dawnguard vampire attacks)

-Reduced Distance NPC Greetings (Now when you walk around town, villagers on the opposite side of the market wont yell at you about how the cold wont be good for their crops)

-Alternate Start: Live Another Life (This mod gives you options for how you want to start the game, ranging from the vanilla opening at Helgen to just dropping you in the wilderness with no equipment whatsoever. Good for restarts)

-Follower Trap Safety (If you take followers with you, they will no longer accidentally set off traps in dungeons)

-The Paarthurnax Dilemna (Can't really describe due to spoilers. Just get it. You'll appreciate it if you intend to do the Main Quest)

-Fixed Followers Lite (Just a bugfix for followers in general)

-Upgrade Leveled Items (Some unique items you get are scaled to your level when you get them. This mod allow you to use smithing in order to update them to your level in case you outgrow them)

-Immersive Patrols (Adds a little life to Skyrim. You will see Imperials, Stormcloaks, and wandering merchant groups on the road now. They will interact accordingly. Really helps to remind you that Skyrim is at war)

-Immediate Dragons (Use this if you intend to use Alternate Start. Dragons don't actually start to populate Skyrim until after you've done a small chunk of the main quest. This mod circumvents that and has them spawning from the beginning, albeit at somewhat low rates. The rate of dragon spawns increases as you do the main quest)

-Multiple Followers Lite (Small mod that allows you to have up to 7 followers. You can make your own little adventure group. It does change the "Follow me" dialogue to "Follow me for adventure!" which is bloody childish but that's a small price to pay for having an elite group of warriors at your back)

*Skyrim Scaling Stopper (WARNING: Only use this after you've had a few playthrougs. This mod WILL get you killed if you are not careful. Skyrim's enemies and items are generally scaled to your level so that you will be challenged but generally not overpowered by any foes you meet. This mod rips out that feature and spawns enemies and gear of a randomly leveled nature. At Level 1 you could easily run into high leveled bandits everywhere you go. However, the balance for this is that such strong enemies could now be carrying awesome loot so killing one tough enemy could make you exponentially stronger in the aftermath. This is where Multiple Followers comes in handy)

Finally, look for a mod on the Nexus called the ULG. It's a performance package that can tune down Skyrim's graphics in order to give you a smoother experience.

I would advise against SEPRG, the mod is so poorly made even the mod author himself said not to use it becuase its broken, and becuase hes making a new mod.

For your first playthrough, I recommend following the S.T.E.P. guide [http://wiki.step-project.com/Main_Page]. It covers almost everything but keeps the experience very close to vanilla. After that though, you should take a look at some of the gameplay overhaul mods like SkyRe [http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9286/] or PerMa (Once it comes out), along with some of the big quest mods like Falskaar [http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37994/]. It's also worthwhile to grab one of the many ENB mods, there's a good comparison of a heap of them here [http://imgur.com/a/2Dcez#0].

I have a link here to a personal mod list. http://jellybenis.tumblr.com/post/66520014212/my-skyrim-mods

I don't use all of these anymore, but it's my most up to date list so I still use most of them.

He said it on a post on his mods nexus thread awhile back.

You will just have to keep page searching till you find it.

Maybe I should have mentioned that I have played Skyrim on the 360 many times, and only am getting it for the P.C. because the mods look so interesting. So no need to omit for spoilers(unless they're mod related). Just hide them for others.

Requiem: The Roleplaying Overhaul
An amazing mod that overhauls all of Skyrim into a more difficult and realistic experience. BUT it's not everybody's cup of tea due to the difficult taking some time to get used too.

-Expanded Towns and Cities,
will make the villages and towns look SOOOO much better.

-Wyrmstooth and Faalskaar
Are good quest mods that add new lands outside of Skyrim for you to explore.

-SSME and ENBOOST
You should really download these plugins if you want to start modding. It will you give you some serious stability.

-Immersive College of Winterhold
Makes the college of Winterhold look fantastic and adds a whole bunch of new things in it so that it actually feels like the center of magic in Skyrim.

-Realistic Lighting Overhaul
Will overhaul the crappy vanilla lighting with something that's not only more realistic, but also optimal performance wise.

-Enhanced Lights and FX
An alternative to realistic lighting overhaul. It has a bigger impact on performance though.

The most important gameplay mods I use:

SkyRe: Near-complete perk/combat overhaul. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9286/?

Frostfall: Hypothermia mod. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11163/?

Alternate start: Start in a random place in skyrim, depends on a short back story. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557/?

Character creation overhaul: Requires you to pick specialisation at the game start. No more omnipotent characters. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21587/?

And many many more, most of which can be found on this page: http://www.skyrimgems.com/ This site is basicaly a list of worthwhile, lore-friendly/realism gameplay mods.

A couple more recommendations if your going to be adding more than a few mods:

Use ENB Boost (search for 'realvision performance' for the one I used). ENB is normaly used for enhanced graphics but it includes a funtion that turns off all the fancy but does still fix some very annoting memory issues.

Use the last SKSE beta. It includes another memory fix which would allmost certainly crash your game in busy areas, especialy with memory heavy mods.

Immersive Armors [http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19733/?]

Adds a crap ton of lore friendly armors for you to make/find, which is nice. But what I really like it for is that it also changes NPC armors, so you don't run into clones everywhere you go. Guards will have hide or leather etc helmets instead of only the standard guard helmet. Also different shields and stuff.

Same for enemies, so it's more fun to check them for loot.

Key word is immersive though, so no boobplates or nipplepasties.

As I understand, Requiem also pretty much locks you into one archetype if you want to have any hope of succeeding later - so say goodbye to variety. Someone who actually plays it and dips all over can probably give better statemement on that regard.

Requiem aims to make Skyrim more like older-school RPGs. In this case, it goes the route of "You have to pick a class, and play within it" using the Skyrim Perk system. Basically you can't be an Archer/Dual Wield/Two-Handed/Smithing/Enchanting/Sneaking god etc.- you actually have to pick an archtype and stick with it.

The benefit is that when you master that archtype, you're almost an unstoppable god for that kind of combat/playstyle; the tradeoff is you will lose effectiveness in other areas and not really be able to use them.

It's actually the exact opposite.

If you over-specialize you're going to have a much harder, albeit certainly not impossible, time. Requiem is filled with enemies that have high resistances to different things, enemies that are very difficult to take out up-close, enemies that are very difficult to take out from a distance etc.

In almost every requiem play-through I end up going in thinking I'll make a character of a very specific archetype but often I end up branching out to deal with more situations.

If you're literally putting points into every single skill then indeed it'll be difficult, you do need to make some choices, can't become a master of everything. But if you stick to less than a handful of skills it's going to be just as difficult.

A balanced character, taking the skills that come naturally whilst playing, is by far the easiest character to play. What I've found worked best was to simply not spend your talent points when leveling but keep them in reserve until you encounter a situation where you feel you need more of a certain skill.

My current character I went into thinking I'd make an archer. But in Requiem heavy armor just completely stops arrows from rookie archers. Luckily I had a point in reserve, put it into sneak and slit the bastard's throat from behind. Best stealth kill I've ever made in Skyrim, because it happened out of actual need and arose naturally.

Someone want to tell me(beyond the gopher video) how to fully install SKSE on Vista. Only time I actually found a Skyrim folder, it was in "My Games" and no sight nor sound of "tesv.exe" or "tesv" was there, which seems to make the rest of the video useless.

If you legally own steam you need to go to your steam folder, then the steamapps folder inside that, then the common folder inside that, then the skyrim folder inside that.

Oh boy, vista... Its usualy in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim or some variety of it.

These instructions are basicaly in every manual, including the one that comes with SKSE. Your realy going to want to take some time to read them or the game very quickly turns into a crashy mess.

You mean more then it is already right? RIGHT?
Heheh I know right, but yeah for as far as its possible.

Bright side is modding done well can actualy make the game more stable than the stock version. Just remembered this here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50214/?

Its a general stability guide. Fairly technical, but clearly explained and a lot of help for problems that dont stem from wrongly installed, incompatible or buggy mods.
