what do you guys think of Yogventures? Although it looks like another Minecraft, the world seems to have its own unique flavor. I don't know if I should contribute or not.

"Yogventures is going to be an open world sandbox game designed first and foremost as a multiplayer experience. The game will allow you to create and shape worlds, then easily share them and play with friends! We're going to take the idea of "build your own adventure" to the extreme. Yogventures will provide simple-to-use tools to design worlds that match your imagination and are packed with thrilling stories and epic treasures."

Internet and "cred" should not be words you put together.

It's pretty scary. I don't like the vibe I got from them in that video. It seems to be targeting their younger audience as they know they can feed children Simon and Lewis branded shit and they'll probably eat it. How they plan to get money from these kids is beyond me.

It looks rather boring, they play games not make them. Let's keep it that way.

they had over 135k last i checked. It makes me somewhat sad.
I hindsight I feel like an arsehole for saying that. Unless they tell the kids to get their parents to give them money Barney style then it's not fair for me to say they targeting kids for money. Sure it's aimed at kids but what's the difference between a kid asking his/her parents for video game money and using that money to support a kick starter?

To be fair, they aren't making it, they're working with an actual development company to do it. They're just raising the money.

As for the game. Eh, I messed with Minecraft and god bored after there was nothing to do so I doubt I'll buy this.

Kind of makes me worry about the so called validity of this kickstarter stuff.
I don't dislike the yogscast, but if two guys on the internet can get a development company and make a game it just seems... off.

I despise yogscast. I just don't understand how they're so popular.

If you will excuse me, i'm off to do my own kickstarter.

I shall create a first person shooter and I shall name it....

Yell of Obligation.

It will not be a rip off from any known game ....... honest.

I don't understand why people seem to get so butthurt over it. They seem pretty excited about it. They could be acting to sell themselves, but they seem like genuinely alright people to me, and I find them pretty funny. Sometimes Simon's over-the-top attitude ruins the moment, but I enjoy watching their videos.
As for the game, I don't think I'll be buying it but I think this will be great for whoever are making it. What better way to get into the industry than with the help of one of the most popular gaming channels on Youtube? Good for them.

This. It seems like it might or might not actually be any good, but AFAIK it's basically just them throwing their support behind an existing Minecraft clone that they think shows a lot of promise re: user-created content.

I doubt it. The guy's registration date is too long ago to be a bot. They usually get killed within days of arrival.

Upon hearing this i lost any respect for the yogscast that i had left. Simply abusing a young fanbase to create a branded minecraft ripoff which they will sell back to their community.

Wait, so even assuming that this is essentially a tie-in vs. an actual product (an impression I didn't really get from the kickstarter,) how is it immoral to sell merchandise?

I doubt the Yogscast have the need to spam random forums with their game. They have millions of viewers.

OT: Nah, not donating, game looks crap, dont like the Yogcast, whatever.
Yeah you're probably right. Just seemed odd.

Well morality is subjective, but i think telling your predominantly young fanbase of who idolize you to give money which you personally could put forward to fund it (they are more than good for 250k) inorder to sell them a minecraft ripoff with your face on it.

Its not immoral, but classless and deserves no respect

In your view, is it okay for them to sell t-shirts?

Well, regardless, i hope it works out for them. I am kind of interested as to what kind of game these people can create, but to be honest I'm going to wait and see before i put any cash into it. Hopefully they will have some unique mechanics that set it apart.

also i am not a bot :p
