Never mind. I remembered what it was not 5 minutes after posting >_<
Okay, so might as well use the thread for something. Anybody play Yokai Watch?
It's a monster catching game, and catching the monsters is mind numbingly tedious. You have to find the bugger you want, figure out it's favourite food (on the internet, of course, because trial and error would take ages), buy the most expensive type, feed it(only once), and then not make friends because it all barely has an effect in the first place! There's 250 of the buggers and I was completely sick of collecting them after 15. There are just way too many random variables in this equation and the befriend chance is just too low. This is like if in Pokemon, lowering the hp and status effects didn't impact your capture rate and you were only allowed to throw a ball once per battle! It would make the game basically unplayable!
Apart from that the world is kind of bland and uninteresting. It's just a city filled with the most inane people you can imagine. Here's a selection of the hot gossip on the street:
"Study hard when you're young, and you'll see the benefits later! So read up and study hard!"
"I'm thirsty."
"Uptown Springdale connects to four different areas."
"The summer sun shines upon us! At this time of year, you'll generally get rain about once every four days."
"Today's meal is fish! My mouth is watering already!"
"I tire of this swinging."
"She really likes Y-Cola. It tastes so good!"
"Y-Cola is so delicious."
"Just taking a break! I work hard every day! I'm allowed!"
Riveting. There's about 200-300 NPCs in the game, but I can't think of who would want to talk to them all. The quests mostly aren't much better and are almost exclusively fetch quests when they don't expect you to go and spend an hour tracking down and befriending an utterly common yokai (like heck!)
Then there's that bug catching mini-game. So you control when the wheel stops spinning, the arrow flashes when you push the button, but none of it matters because it's entirely random where it stops! Why give the illusion of control at all if it's actually completely up to chance?! Just to make me feel like it's my fault?
Oh well, I got it on sale so I'm not too bothered.
edit: this is in the wrong forum now -_- whatever.
There's a bit of music that plays at the end of the System Shock remake demo that reminds me intensely of something else.
All I can remember is the beginning.
So imagine that slow violin style but with this melody. I think it was played a bit cleaner though.
I think it's from a movie, probably some sort of emotional scene or something. It could be from a game, anime, or show also though. It makes me think of some kind of mostly somber work, but looking up sad movies didn't help.
Please list anything that music reminds you of!
I've been thinking about it for an hour and it's driving me nuts!
EDIT: Pretty sure it was Barney's short film from that one Critic crossover episode of the Simpsons.
