I tend to gravitate AWAY from AAA games. I have no interest in realistic military shooters and GTA/GoW clones, slogging through unskippable cutscenes, and the day one patches that still leave a host of bugs that will be patched years later or never.
The games themselves tend to be the most expensive to buy, come with several editions with content exclusivity (some that notably lack the actual game), cut content, and on and on to drain your wallet for something that on average only has MAYBE 7 hours of actual gameplay. Often with large amounts pointless profanity, obligatory sex minigames, and of course product placement because its an M rated game marketed towards 12 year olds that actually get off on it.
Assuming it of course has multiplayer you then have to keep up with all the new map packs or wonder where the hell everyone is, and deal with all the modded tools going around in god mod and raping your inbox until you block them.
The only AAA games I genuinely liked, even though they suffer some of the aforementioned to some degree are the Elder Scrolls/Fallout games, Borderlands, and a few others.
I don't consider a game like Zelda, Soul Reaver, or Dark Souls to be AAA, as I have such a negative connotation of the term. If anything I would label them S rank lol.
I play mostly indie games these days. My 3DS is full of them, and I am always looking for new ones on pc.

You Have to Win the Game
They are cheap, or even free and have provided at least 10x the enjoyment of something like Kingdoms of Amalur which cost several fortunes to make.
Now that Shovel Knight is out, about the only game currently known to be in production that I'm excited about No Man's Sky. Which is an indie game, I think?
Bloodborne and Hyrule Warriors will both be good too, but there is simply no way in hell I'll be able to get a Wii U and/or a PS4 with my lack of money for things like food ._.
