You are alone... And Immortal

I recently saw a xkcd comic where he is totally alone, and also immortal. This got me wondering, what would you, my fellow escapists, do if you were in a desolate plain of existence, one without time or any form of life. You also cannot die, even if you try to kill yourself. What would you do? Would you undertake some great work? would you just set and philosophize?
I would personally develop and write an entire philosophy in the sand, then I would start some enormous math calculation, one that could potentially take forever. Maybe calculating pi into eternity?

Build a bridge to the moon, then jump off it. Then bounce back to the top.

Rinse. Repeat.

First off, I suck at math so that goes out the window. I would probably make a bunch of different made up languages with my spare time.

I'd probably sleep or create a civilization of rock people and make myself believe they talk and become mayor of the town of rocks.
Then I'd make an opposing town of rocks and make my town believe they are terrorists and create a war.
The war would escalate until nukes are created and used and everyone would die. Except me of course so I'd take a good look around and realize how insane i had become and fall into the fetal position and cry.

pretty much sums it up

Build a house, then a castle, then a city, then a world, then a galaxy, then a universe. Out of pebbles.

well i probly wouldnt be intellegent enough to work out some mathmetics or physics equations, and philosophising for eternity would be pointless as without someone to argue the pros and cons of your philosophy it would just become a philosophy coloured by your personality. so i ghess would try and create some sort of life using bacteria and watch evolution take place

How would you go on a killing spree if there is nothing else whatsoever? Also, marrying would obviously be out of the question.

I'd probably walk up to the top of everest with a sled, then see how fast I could get down(I AM immortal afterall...), or build the biggest treehouse EVER.

I would discover the power to ascend to a higher state of being and turn this barren world into a more lush one. I'm unsure how I would furnish such a world, but I would ensure that it was beautiful. This world would be the first of many: A thousand worlds devoid of strife and turmoil and the greed that plagues this land and its people. And then, at long last, I would make this world. Not out of desire to see my own kind thrive and escalate their understanding of the world around them, but for my own amusement. I would watch as they fight over land, faith, and shiny rocks. Watch as they destroy ecosystems and obliterate species. Watch as they kill each other al the while ultimately killing themselves with their clumsy weapons and collateral damage. I would watch this all from my own haven... And laugh. And then I would return to my infinite studies, brushing the ruins of this tarnished place from my desk as one would a failed sketch.

If you truly require others to find any significance in life, then perhaps significance is not what you're really seeking. So the alone thing doesn't bother me so much.

I imagine that, in time, I'd probably forget all the trappings of our society. Just out of lack of need to utilize it weakening the dendrites involved (assuming the same immortality that negates my ability to age does not also negate this biological norm). I'd probably come to a very primal understanding of reality - all the trappings of human knowledge being lost by lack of artifacts to reinforce them. As I apparently don't need to eat, resources emerge as unnecessary. As there's no competition, a need to strive against it also emerges as unnecessary.

Eventually, I'd find a nice place to lay down and, immortal or not, cease to functionally exist. Bereft of all that things that make up my individuality, with the forgettable exception of existence itself, the functional distinction between me and the rest of the universe would become moot.

And that's probably what really happens when you die - any questions?

Of course, this assumes we're looking at an "infinite desolate landscape" as portrayed in the comic above. Once you start adding things to it, even inanimate things, you stop being alone. Even looking up at a star-filled sky, it would give me something to do: lets go see where that light is coming from. That's the best part about immortality - you get to be an individual who has all the time they need to experience the entirety of the universe.
