OK... so I bought wow about a month and a half ago and i was really enjoying it for the first three weeks and I even got the first expansion, but then someone changed my password. I contacted blizzard about this issue and so the had my account "temporarily disabled" for three weeks and today I found out they disabled my account for good when all I wanted was access to it. about 100 dollars and all of my achievements and characters down the drain. My account can no longer be played by anyone so that is even more of a waste of money I really would have felt better leaving it with my hacker than blizzard just disabling it so no one could play.

Okay, now the obvious question here is what your account was disabled for?

I'm guessing from your story that you must have cheated, and been really unsubtle about it. I say this because if you just started the game six weeks is not enough for you to be anywhere near close to having a character capable of entering an expansion, never mind having enough achievements to really be worth all that much since most of them come from doing dungeons and such which require maxxed out characters for whatever expansion your doing (not all of them, but most).

On top of this, what did you spend $100 on? The basic WoW software is pretty cheap and comes with the first 30 days, so at most you bought a month for the two weeks after that meaning that I can't see the game costing you $100 unless you were buying gold or power leveling from other people which seems likely given the rate at which you advanced.

Apologies if I have the wrong idea, but I can only go by what you've said, but it definatly sounds like you cheated and were advancing so fast that you got the attention of the admins.

In theory it's possible to max out characters in a week or so, but that takes very detailed knowlege of the game, and usually a lot of support from a guild. It's not something that a guy who just started playing a month and a half ago is going to be able to do, and no it's not a matter of being "just that good", talent has nothing to do with the kinds of things
you need for that.

So basically, unless there are details your leaving out, you don't sound like a victim to me but more a case of someone who wanted to breeze through the game to get to the "good stuff", cheated to do it, and got caught.

I played legit but I was dedicated to playing so I just bought the expansions and two more months ahead of time. I was only about lvl 30 but it is still a lot of grinding, plus I was lvling with i friend.

And thats why authenticators are completely worth it. send an email to blizzard support or just call them because accounts don't get permanently disabled because of a little hacker.

Just tell them you got hacked after getting help from Blizz you still cant get into game, not all customer service people in the game industry are assholes

This may be a stupid question, but who is Bobby Kotick?

In a nutshell, he's a shrewd busninessman trying to capitalize on gaming and gamers. That wouldn't be so bad if he didn't come off as an evil fucknut every time he opens he mouth. It's gotten to the point where I doubt I'll be buying any Activision games while he's still the CEO. You probably should read up on him so that you can keep your friends from buying his games too. Trust me, we don't need our games becoming something of his vision of gaming.

OT:I hate to come off as a douche, but the OP did something stupid. Hackers don't brute-force attack WoW accounts, so they got your password from somewhere. If it was a simple keylogger, you can defeat it with an on-screen keyboard. I know Ruins of Magic did that on the log in screen and I thought that was totally awesome. I'm surprised that WoW has not followed suit.

I guess of all the things to say "fuck you Blizzard" to, your own stupidity shouldn't be one of them. How about slicing a game into 3 parts and charging $140 for all of it, or releasing games at $60 while they are literally making Billions in WoW subscriptions alone. If they used that money to make better games, sure, but it's all going to line the pockets of the current staff without any expectations to produce more or better products.

There was a time when i cared about when I got hacked in WoW, but that's behind me. Not playing it again. But that really sucks. Blizzard needs to step up authentication WITHOUT making us pay extra.

the Blizzard Authenticator will not save you all they have to do is log the results a few times and they can replicate it does no one remember the so called hack for it?

no matter how many authenticators/ authentication methods you or blizzard place on your account. If you get a key logger on your PC you are fucked anyway. that is how they get your password and authenticator code and password and then they instantly change the password.

Morale of the story is Be security aware. Antivirus/antispyware and all that jazz, and preferably something that is a live scanner. so the second you access the site/virus is downloaded you get warned.

Well I just found out that somebody hacked my email account and used it for a Battle.net account, only found out when Blizzard contacted me to say they banned my email.

I emailed them back to tell them I played none of their games and never would so therefore they should ban all accounts using that email address, but they wouldn't.
