The big joke in the nuclear physics community is that for the past 30 years or so, anyone talking to the press has declared that fusion reactors will be commercially viable in 20 years.

I honestly didn't expect you to be talking about actual tritium and deuterium. I assumed you were talking about something from a fictional world. That is why I was so curious about what you were talking about. The problem with tritium and deuterium fusion is that the reactors actually destroy themselves which I find hilarious. Neutrons start flying around like crazy and start to destroy it within seconds(if I remember correctly). This is why we want Helium-3 so bad. Then it should work.
