Ever play a game so often, and feel like you know it so well, only to discover some major ability you never noticed before?

For example, Mega Man 2 is my number one favorite game. It was the first game I ever played, and I was raging over Air Man before I could read. Just a couple of days ago, I found out that you can shoot Metal Blade in any direction. WHAT? I had no idea. All these years. I thought the main advantage was just the bigger projectile.

Also, to a lesser extent, I was four hours into Fallout 3 before I found out you could jump.

So, how about you?

Translation- In my first play through of Ys Origins, I only found out I could charge my attacks after obtaining the Crimson Longsword. A bit insulting since the game has in game manual. -.-

ok, i know it look silly, but i swear it did happened. i wasnt very good at english back then, and i had no instruction manual. also internet didnt really existed

so i was playing final fantasy (the first one, when it was still fresh and new) and i was stuck at the marsh cavern because, man that game was difficult. the enemies were so strong and took so long to die...

so i was at school talking to a guy who was playing too and he asked me if i had equip my weapons

I NEED TO PRESS EQUIP BUTTON TO ACTUALLY EQUIP ARMOR AND SWORDS ?!?

so yeah i played 20 hours of final fantasy 1 without any equipement on my caracters

When I first figured this out in Metroid Prime it kind of blew my mind. I'm sure that was explained somewhere in the game but hey I was like 13, I didn't read the instruction manuals at that time.

No more landing on cliff sides. Still haven't managed to land on any enemies though.

I saw a Galaxy and intentionally slammed into it, blowing the plane to smithereens.

Then I learned it was an allied Galaxy fully loaded with friendlies. WHOOPS.

I remember once my friend was wathing me play Mass Effect one, and when I made the Mako jump he was like "What?!?! you can do that?" Then when I zoomed in with the cannon he lost his shit.

When I finally convinced my best mate to play Mass Effect she kept texting me saying she couldn't get past the geth on Noveria cause her "stupid tank" didn't have guns, after explaining that it not only had guns, but rockets and that you could zoom in with said cannons she lost it too!

I don't think it really counts, but when I played Dragon Age 2 you had to tap the button every time to attack. It was infuriating, but I got used to it, and even learned to ignore the pain in my right thumb.

Quite a while after, I decided to start a second playthrough, and a friend happened to come over and see me engaged in battle and frantically tapping A to launch attacks. He watched for a moment, looked at me and said "...you do know they patched that, right? You can just go to the options and turn auto-attacking on"

OH OH epic story. Went to play Fallout 1 my ex and his best mate where like 'It's a bit pants you can't run' and that's when I found it right there in the settings. They had been doing it by clicking on people and things for like the entire game. xD

For me, it's Ripper mode in Metal Gear Rising. I got all the way to the last chapter wondering why my Blade Mode meter turned red. Then after being stuck on a fight for a while, I looked up a VR tutorial. I was like "wait, what?! That makes everything SO much easier!"

I was playing Final Fantasy VI recently and this is a game that I've played before but have never completed. At this point I'm probably farther than I've ever made it in past playthroughs and despite my party being in the 20's at this point, I'm disappointed by their lack of magical abilities etc...also despite story progress I can't use Espers...maybe Terra is the only one able to use them? Apparently not...what I failed to notice is I have to equip one Esper to party members in order to teach them magic, boost some stats etc. I felt like an idiot considering how similar this is to progression-via-items/equipping in Final Fantasy IX.

I've killed at least 2 Mossies and 2 Libs with my drop pods.
