See, I'm a guy but thought I'd play as a female because why not. So when I heard about marriage I thought "huh, that's interesting. I wonder who I should have this woman marry?"
I'm not gay myself though so I was having a hard time looking at all these virtual men and deciding which is the best to marry -.- None of them left any kind of impression on me either so in the end I never bothered with it.
Had I played as a guy from the beginning, I dunno who I wouldv'e married. Probably that one Brelyna from the Mage College. The only characters I'd ever really consider marrying in Skyrim are the ones that can be followers. At least then it can kind of feel like your character has had some significant bonding time with that person. So the two times I've chosen to marry off my characters, I chose Mjoll the Lioness (for my honorable Khajiit warrior/ranger guy) and Farkas (for my cheerful Khajiit lady thief). I might also have my unarmed badass Khajiit (who looks like Mr. T as a cat) marry Borghak the Steel-Heart, a female orc, just so not all of my Khajiit have Nord spouses and to see how hilariously the marriage plays out. Also, since I have Hearthfire, I'm still waiting to see if Farkas (you know, the big burly warrior who is also a freaking werewolf) will actually get kidknapped by those bandits or not. That would be amusing.
Would've been Erik until he disappeared. With him gone next up was my twin, Aela, took the lesbian route instead. Got 2 little redhead daughters as well lol.

I think I got married in Skyrim once. That one adventurer in Riften, with Grimsever. The creepy thing is, when she moves in with you, her friend does to. Aaron or something.
Mind you, I never got that far in my particular playthrough, as the marriage ceremony glitched out and a dead Lydia spawned with the other guests, which called the whole thing off.
The only character I think mine would like to spend time with would be Serrana, because she's quite useful, interesting to talk to, and can't be killed thanks to immortal tags. Not that I bring her along often, as it stops me from deploying my crazy AOE effects (particularly the Midas Magic stuff. My Destruction can level anything if need be, so I've started playing with other magic stuff for fun. The physics engine has made me laugh far more times than is normal). Though I still craft custom armor and enchantments for my favorites, just to be nice. I love making custom pieces out of human souls with the Black Star, choosing enchantments that matched their personality. Especially the Dark Brotherhood targets. Or sometimes I just target people I don't like, kill them, soul trap them, forge them into items and drop them into places they'll never escape from. Mr. Silver Blood is a ring now, Grella the Kind was made into a pressent for that one kid who ran away from her orphanage, and I've got my eye on Nasir "Do you get up to the cloud district very often?" the Whiterun Asshole once I manage to set up his murder just so.
And I've drifted off topic. Anyway, I hate romance quests in just about every game, so it's not important to me.

I usually marry Jordis the Swordmaiden. She's the Solitude Housecarl. She has a nice voice that doesn't sound really annoyed at the prospect of helping you carry stuff (looking at you, Lydia) and since she wears heavy armor, I just outfit her with Daedric stuff and she essentially can't die. Nice to have a mobile store with you too if you ever run short on cash. Also, she's not bad looking, for a Skyrim NPC.
I have eyes only for Sylgja. Simply because without face mods, she's the only one marginally attractive. In addition to that, I like her village and her quirky mining background.Jayemsal said:

My character married Shahvee. I swear she is quite literally the only eligible Argonian female in that game. Admittedly that annoyed me a bit since I don't even really like Shahvee that much but even if I don't do that in depth roleplaying that some people do with Skyrim, I didn't see my character as marrying anyone else but another Argonian.

The other one, not so much. Companions make fantastic loot mules and make it so much easier to rip every single thing worth anything out of a dungeon.
...Or so I thought. Then I used Storm Call in a dragon fight immediately after coming out of a Dwemer ruin northeast of Whiterun and Lydia died and I had to schlep it all on foot back to town.

Never got married in Skyrim, or used a compantion for that matter.
For two reasons actually;
First, for the only time a companion was worth a damn was during my first play through. After i got the hang of it she got demoted to mule and later not used at all.
Second, the only one i was remotely interested in was that saphire chick in Riverwood, at least i think that was her name. Never did found out if i could.

I married Breyla (the dark elf girl at the mages college who turns you into a horse). Mostly because I was an Argonian and anyone who doesn't like it can go fuck themselves. I also bought the mansion in Winterhold just to stir up more trouble
