If you're saying because I'm not calling it an RPG as well, well that is just stupid.Charles_njc said:I'll be honest, I haven't gotten around to playing New Vegas yet, but I did play fallout 3 pretty heavily, and I've watched my girlfriend play New Vegas, and I have to say that calling that game an FPS is a large mistake: You have entirely missed the point... congratulations!Radeonx said:He said specifically no FPS games.Daveman said:How about... Fallout New Vegas.
Last time I checked New Vegas was an FPS game.
Now you're just being pedantic.Daveman said:So it's in first person (which is optional)... So is Portal, Mirrors Edge and Oblivion (the game it's supposed to be so similar to).
I second this statement.RountreeUSMC said:If you haven't played it already I suggest Dead Rising 2.
Well yeah I'm being pedantic. I'm just saying if he likes shooting stuff in third person (as you suggested with RDR, ME2 and DS2) then he can do that in New Vegas too therefore my suggestion is just as valid as yours. Unless the weapon has a scope, every time you "aim down your sights" in it, it does the thing all TPS's do which is hovers closer to your shoulder.Radeonx said:Now you're just being pedantic.Daveman said:So it's in first person (which is optional)... Yes, you can use other stuff, but it is still so much in vein with FPS's that it is kind of pointless.
The difference between throwing stuff, shooting stuff, and hitting stuff in first person isn't THAT big, and sure, New Vegas is a pretty good game, but that is, if I'm right from what the OP said, is specifically NOT what he wanted.
Mirror's Edge has nothing to do with this because it is a platformer. Same with Portal, and if I was being really pedantic, I'd say that it is an FPS because you use a gun, but that is just arguing for the sake of arguing.
I prefer the first person view a thousand times more, as well. Only use third person to check what apparel I got on.Radeonx said:I am aware of that, but the game, for most people, is much better if played in first person for most of the time.benzooka said:Scroll out and you're good to go.
And the fact that you can do other things than shoot doesn't change the fact that it is normally going to be in first person, even if you can use other weapons.
I agree with you.benzooka said:Snip
I do agree with those additions as well. Oh, right, the OP's preferences... As soon as something formed, that one could describe as an interesting conversation even; I forgot all about what the thread was all about.Radeonx said:I agree with you.benzooka said:Snip
I'd classify Fallout as an RPG/FPS hybrid, but considering that it is still an FPS, I kind of assumed that the OP wouldn't want it.
A much more specific term, I suppose, would be an RPG with heavy FPS elements.
