Sorry, but I really don't need to get a message every time someone says something in a User Group I'm in. I really don't.

I prefer to see Messages (0), because 9 times out of 10 a new message is the mods putting me on probation again because they have no sense of humor. A little trolling and e-fighting adds spice to any forum, so long as it doesn't get out-of-control.

Well then maybe you should learn to stop doing it? Calling mac users pretentious is a fine reason for you to be put on probation.

Zero. I check my messages as soon as I see I have them. If ever there is more than one message in my inbox, it's a rare occasion. One day I woke up with 5 in my inbox and had a small panic attack. That was one wild day.

I joined the Team Fortress 2 Group, forgetting to uncheck the boxes for messages, woke up the next day and had 452 unread messages. I immediately hunted down the settings after realising every message was just telling me someone had posted on the group forums. These messages plagued my inbox until I finally found how to remove a page at a time. Still took me 20 minutes....

Same, first few days I was memeber of the TF2 group I had 300 messages each day xD
Had to turn of the notification for when someone said something, only getting messages if news or someone messaged me xD

I learnt this the hard way. Lost the internet for two days, came back and had 300+ unread messages.

None. I read all I get, ASAP, because seeing the "1 new message" thing cheers me up immensely The reason it cheers me up so much might be because I don't usually receive new messages. I do not recieve chat notifications from user groups as I always turn that off. Only News posts, quotes and group alerts are on however.

So yeah, no "spam" and I know when I get new messages by the sudden red color at the "no/new message(s)" thing.

Freaking FINALLY! For the first time in over a year, I do not have any new messages in my inbox, unread news posts from groups, or unread quoted messages. At times over the previous 12+ months, I had over 200 new messages and still had over 100 after the Escapist automatically deleted every message that was greater than a month old. I am disproportionately ecstatic about this, as I am sure you can tell. I glanced over the search bar results and found nothing, so if there is a similar thread out there, I apologize.

Messages (0). Good feeling.

Anyway, question time: How many new messages do you have? 6? 16? 60? 600?

Here's a tip: Uncheck the little box that says "Receive chat messages from this group". The only time you need it is if you're the group owner and the group doesn't have an absurd (see: batshit insane to the point where all conversations are held with precognition) amount of chat. Otherwise, stop posting so much and people will stop quoting you so much.

Yeah, I know about that. I only receive chat messages from groups that I actively participate in.

I know it seems like I'm bitching but I like getting a lot of messages. It's just that I'm so rarely at 0, making it kind of a special moment. Hell, the more quoted messages, the better. I LOVE getting quoted.

If I have a message I'll check it immediately. I check the Escapist, Youtube and Twitter about 3-4 times on average each day, so I get reaaaally bored when I haven't had any all day.

Every time I get messages (this morning I had 3!) I read them all, I also don't have many chat notifications on, so I never get that many anyway :'( but when I do get one it makes me feel happy!

The most new ones I have had at one time is 22, but that was because I forgot to turn off chat notifications for one group...
