Ok, so here I am, a student in Ireland patiently awaiting the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. I preordered it from GAME a month in advance, hoping to beat whoever else was aiming to get the collector's edition. I carefully spoke to the men at the till at several of the retail outlets and was happily convinced that no one nowhere ANYWHERE in the emerald isles was doing a midnight release of Cataclysm.

And then,

As I walked the streets of Dublin city Today, I came across a GAME store with a giant poster hanging from the window.

CATACLYSM MIDNIGHT RELEASE ON MONDAY 6TH OF DECEMBER

Suffice to say I was not a happy camper, I went in to have the men at the till explain to me that because I preordered the game with a different GAME retail store that they cannot honor my preorder receipt here and then went on to explain that this was the only store that was doing a midnight release.

Has any of you ever felt this kind of rage, do tell!


EDIT: just so people know, I'm not actually that pissed off about it, it's just some frustration due to spending so much time grappling with dullard employees misinformation and inevitably missing something I would have enjoyed. Please try not to judge me based on the fact that I enjoy midnight releases, lots of people do.

EDIT AGAIN OH NOES: Ok, guys seriously. stop freaking out, it's actually getting lulz-worthy, I was annoyed because I'm going to miss the midnight release because I like that sort of thing, not because of getting the game asap so I can play it etc etc. It's getting to the point where you guys are going nuts over the perception that I'm going nuts. I'm an unintentional Troll I guess, trololol...

Ive seen that exact thing happen to a few friends of mine, gamestop can just be a ***** like that, the best I can say for you is just be happy you got a collectors edition, I spent so long deciding if I should buy cataclysm that I just got it like 2 days ago xD.

It isnt even 1 day. 10 hours max until store opens. And ofcourse you'll have to wait for the updates and patches to download and install.....

My rage is seeing a Battlefield 1942 game pack at GameStop, which included 1942, Vietnam, and two other Battlefield games for around $10.

My dad wanted to get it for me (didn't hide it, either). When we were in the area, we popped to that store again.

Gone, and the employee told me that the closest GameStop with it in stock was out of state.

Sad me.

Not really a day, most stores open at 10, so it's not even half a day. I may be impatient, but half a day isn't all that long...... especially if you can play the MMO while you wait to get the expansion.

You know you could just download it off the Blizzard site at the midnight release, right? Then you wouldn't even have to leave the house.

Hell, you could start downloading all the data now, so you can just buy it then immediately start playing at midnight.

Well, Blizzard did say those that order the game throught their site will start playing at midnight, not this installing and what-not first.

This reminds me of the time I tried to enter the launch day tournament for Super Smash Bros Brawl at Gamestop.

I tried to sign up a week in advance, and the guy at the counter told me that I couldn't sign up in advance, and that I could enter on launch day.

Needless to say, I got there, and I found out that the ONLY way to enter the tournament was to sign up in advance, so I was pretty pissed. Luckily, someone dropped out at the last second, and I was chosen to replace him. Lost in the first round, but had fun.

So yes, I do feel your pain, even if things did work out in the end for me.
