You know what, I just dnt care about this thread, and that its utterly pointless.

XD Kidding.

Anyway, I dont ccare about hte greater meaning of life. You live for the now and give some thought for the later, and make sure when you look back there was something to see.

I don't care about a greater meaning to my life, in fact, I would go so far as to say my life is utterly pointless! But you know what? I don't care. I just enjoy being alive, I don't care if there's rhyme, reason, logic or even relevance to my existence.

Now, a question: Does a greater meaning concern you? Also, does my attitude come across as healthy or unhealthy to you?
You just described what the greater meaning is how I see it. The greater meaning is to enjoy life, if you enjoy travel, then your greater meaning is to travel, if you enjoy video games, your greater meaning is to play games. Obviously draw the line at anything immoral, just do what you enjoy, assuming it doesn't hurt anyone else. Thats my belief.

Thank you!

I'm so sick of hearing stuff like, "Oh, what's the point of all this" or "Ooh, everything I do is meaningless." Yes, those are both true. Why should it matter? I'm happy just living my life.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that things like a grand scheme or fate or whatever scare me. I don't like the idea that a higher power is controlling my life.

But still, whatever makes me enjoy life, is better than sitting around moping about how there's no point.
thinking that there is no meaning, no greater plan or purpose to life itself and the lives of every single individual doesn't necessarily cause you to mope about it an be depressed and gloomy and all "eff this, what is it good for anyway?"
at least for me; i am convinced there is no meaning or purpose to life/being alive/the existence of anything, but i still get up, go to work, type stupid posts on the sometimes elitist escapist etc. pp.; in the end, it simply doesn't make any difference whatsoever if i do one or the other - because it has no meaning

@ OP: it doesn't come across as either, since it doesn't matter, since there's no meaning to nothing :p (yeah, double negation and stuff, i know... ^^)

Living in the moment is quite enjoyable, yes.
Not to say that I ignore the consequences of my actions, I just try my best not to get stressed out about the knock-on effects of my actions.

People do come up with some quite scary things to try and "justify" their existence.

I like pondering about life, it's one of the many things that inspires me (Being a cartoonist and such). And even if I didn't like it, it's not like I can shut my brain off.

Greater meaning? Nope. Went to war, survived, and came back to find myself with a new perspective. If there is a greater purpose, I am sure it will be evident. Until then, just taking it one bit at a time.

I agree I enjoy being alive, but I do think that my action have an effect on the people I interact with and I keep that in mind. But yes I do believe that my life is mostly just a random series of events and there is no reason or logic behind it.

It's called apathy. I'm apathetic agnostic. I don't believe there is an answer, and I don't think that it affects me either way. It's not unhealthy to be this way, it's just different to other people. Being different isn't so bad

Nope, sounds good to me. I don't expect my life to have some preordained purpose, I don't expect an afterlife. Might as well do what you want (within reason) to enjoy the time you have.

While my beliefs[footnote]which I'm not inclined to dive into detail about.[/footnote] comfort me, I have a personal standard I live by. If I can die without regretting any major decision or action I do, I'll be content. I don't know what my "fate" is but I do know I'll go about life the same way I have always done.

As already stated many times in this thread, I think life is meaningless and purposeless. And that in my mind is a healthy way of looking at it; just make the most of what you got, you are not getting a second chance.

I love the idea of "living in the moment" but I can't really follow through with it, being at uni and all. One day once I can afford to, maybe. I would just to have the ability to wake up one say and think "Fuck it, I'm getting on a train and going to Cornwall, because I can" Hey ho.

Well, my life kinda sucks, so I have to believe I will end up in a better place...doesn't help the suicide thing but then again I'm not suicidal. I guess I just have to try my best and hope I get a B,A, or S.

Living in the moment doesn't mean you chuck yourself at things blindly without consequence, it's more that you do the thing that seems the best at the time.
Chucking yourself down to Cornwall might be the best thing to do if you were in the mood for a different local, had the spare cash to spend and plenty of spare time, for instance.

But just blindly going down there for no reason?
Well, you wouldn't really have any reason to do that and you wouldn't gain anything from it, the moment wouldn't make you want to go down there, really.

But if you were just like "I want a fucking Cornish pasty, my old school friend's there and I ain't seen her for ages and I feel like appreciating the area's unique appearance", that'd be in the moment, you know what I mean?

Well not for *no* reason at all, but you get my point. :p I would love to travel (both abroad and local) as much as I can once I have the income to back it up so you know, that sorta thing. Of course having a job to be able to afford that does cut into living the the moment, unless you're self employed or freelance that is anyways.

You know... something springs to mind, when I read OP message.
YES Man. (the movie)
I really don't care what happens tomorrow because of what I do today, I just like sitting on my behind and playing videogames, if that's gonna give me crap tomorrow, then let it come tomorrow and let me be happy today.

I feel like life is what you make of it, your purpose is entirely self generated. Trying to live your life in accordance with some goal rather than living it how you want to strikes me as utterly banal and I truly feel sorry for anyone who would choose to live they're life for someone else's "purpose".
