As some people on the site may know, I happen to enjoy writing short stories. I've contributed somewhat to both the Short Story Thread and, more recently, the Twisted Fairy Tales thread, with my work. So I dare say some of you at least will (hopefully) be familiar with my writings.

Now, I was planning to write a new set of stories to post on this site before Christmas, but I'm struggling to come up with a decent set of ideas so it'll most likely be New Year when I start that little side project. But today I had an idea. Why not let the readers choose the story?

The idea is simple. People can post in this thread their ideas for a story, which I will start to write. I'll pick the best ideas and write about them, post the first part in this thread, then allow people to decide where the story should go from there. Most likely we'll have a huge mixup of ideas which would be great, and you guys get to choose how weird, wacky, sick, funny, or downright cool the plot will be :D.

If anyone wants to help out, just post your ideas here. I'll try and write up each part of the ongoing story as soon as possible, and get it on the site. Hopefully this could prove to be a great collaboration, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing people's ideas :D.

What, nobody is going to post ANYTHING at all? God, people complain that there are too many repeat threads then proceed to ignore innovative, unique, original ones! I despair, I really do...

I'm thinking, I'm thinking - will edit this when I have found one.

EDIT: K this is the first thing I could think of - guy gets hysterical when hears from a future-seeing-person of the day of his death. Trying to avoid it, he plans to go into hiding the day before into a place where nothing can harm him (inside an asylum or something). On the way, he gets in a car accident and dies the perceived death the next day in the hospital.

A top hat must be involved somewhere. Yes..a top hat that's enchanted.

Maybe it is a being in it's own right and secretly controls events from behind the scenes. Who knows?

Santa is a Daemon Hunter who finds said daemons in stockings hung by the fire...with brimstone and care...with hope that soon St. Nick will be there...

There's a reason he's called a Saint, after all. ^^

Well how about this, someone is trying to stop the new year from coming in so he comes up with a dastardly plan so santa and his happy holiday squad(easter bunny, tooth fairy etc) must stop him , they travel through time to new years past( previous new year nights type of things) There will be kick ass fighting and funny chase scenes and stuff.

Here's an idea.

Protagonist led an easygoing, and carefree life. Antagonist, however, was an intergalactic overlord who managed to succeed in one of the most groundbreaking events ever: hacking the universe. Antagonist contained this power in a laptop computer, which allowed him to bend reality at his very whim, and Antagonist decides to play God with Protagonist. Of course, this pisses Protagonist off, and he swears vengeance against this Antagonist, but he knows nothing about him whatsoever, and any progress he makes to getting to Antagonist's base of operations can be erased simply with the pressing of the carriage return key. Can Protagonist stop Antagonist from destroying his life, or will he be forced to play peon to an Angry God for all of eternity?

How about a WW3 story? The war had been going for 40 years and destabilized governments. America has gone all totalitarian, lower class citizens are being exploited and the middle/higher class are being brainwaished. One middle aged ex-navy seal has been awarded "the good life" for an act of heroism and patriotism, but gradually loses his faith in the government when he discovers relatives were "silenced" by the government. His relatives were part of an underground rebellion against the government, which the protagonists eventually joins.

It's not really the setup for a short story but this is what I came up with.

Wait, I thought about that for a couple of minutes, and the essential plot of that is "Man has crap life, sets out to kill 'God' "

That sounds really really cool.

Well, more of a summary I guess, he can add other things in and make it longer though.

Another one:
In a perfect world a farmer lives with his wife when one day, he found her dead. Unknown to what dead means, he becomes confused as a demon appears. The demon promises that his wife will return to normal if he goes on a quest for him. The man agrees and takes the closest thing that can be described as a weapon that he could find - the scythe he just used to farm with. On his quest, the demon challenges him by facing him against humans controlled by the demon. He kills them (to his surprise) finishes his quest, and as the demon shows him his wife, his skin rots and falls away. Guess who he becomes.

This is another summary of a story I made a long time ago, and there were positive reviews from my peers. Recreate that any way you like if you like it.

Y'know what, I had this whole set-up typed out before I realized it was crap. Honestly I have no idea what you want from this story so I'll leave it.

After centuries of serving a greedy, superstitious populace, Santa decides to put a stop to this nonsense and chooses a mortal to be the voice of reason, convincing people that it is better to give than to receive and that there is no Santa Claus. Why does Santa do this? Because if people stop believing he exists and/or stop relying on him for gifts, he will die...the one thing he truly craves.

It has the potential to be, yes. And it really isn't killing God, just a man with god-like properties (which can be interpreted to killing God, of course).

It also has an added bonus of being able to explore many, many different character and setting portrayals, without significantly breaking the overarching storyline. If I could write worth a damn, I would already have started writing this, but alas, my skills at writing dialogue just suck. I do plan to turn this into a game eventually, though.

The Nazis.

You know how they lost, right?
Well, (True story, by the by) there was a scientist (forgot his name) who wanted to create the "perfect race", y'know. Blonde Hair, blue eyes, etc etc. So, the key, he thought, to this was twins. But, before he could finish his work, they lost the war.
So sad.

The fictional part!
He escaped, and secretly continued his research. Eventually, in the distant future, after a group of secret neo-Nazis have managed to have one of their members elected as president, things go awry. A deadly virus has been found and kills everybody.
But there is something strange about it... anyone who's not a twin is killed. Of course, the government claims to start researching it. But really, they genetically engineered the virus and released it upon the world.
A group of people have discovered this, and half the population is dead. 3 billion people, gone, within a year of the virus being released. Now, this group of people have to stop the government... and stuff.

That's as far as I got.

Hmmm that reminds me of the Moomins when Moomintroll finds a top hat which transforms anything that is put inside.
