There was a lot of stuff done in tribute to him. The organisers named a stage after him, Killswitch Engage paid their respects to him before doing their usual cover of Holy Diver, and he basically got the loudest cheer when they did the photo montage of rock musicians that had died over the past year.
After seeing all this, one guy in the group of people we were hanging out with, who I should emphasise is there because he liked heavy metal enough to pay £200 plus travel expenses, said (paraphrasing) "Who was that guy they were paying tribute to? Dio, or something?"
A facepalm moment if ever I had one.
