One of the things that we need to realize is that most of us have been honing the same video game "skills" for years. As much as some people might not want to admit, there is a certain set of skills that translates across just about every game out there. This includes super precision hand-eye coordination, a sharp sense for basic problem-solving, and extensive experience playing in the mind of a game designer. How do you know to check the side rooms for goodies? Probably because you played Wolfenstein A LOT. How do you know how to find cover and advantageous positions? Playing just about any shooter from the last decade. The patterns are there, you just need to know to look for them.

I use to be a lot more mature when I was younger, and I'm 29, at the rate I'm going I should be going through my biting and tantrum throwing phase by age 32...=(

I have issues.

My sister is the same way. She'll ask me how to do everything while she plays a game, even if I haven't played the game before.

Young kids in general are impatient and incapable of appreciating what truly makes any artistic thing great. Eventually they will hopefully grow up, assuming most of America's parents can start doing their fricking job.

im 14 and the only time I ever yell at the XBOX 360 or PS3 is when some arragant yank (not sayin' there all like this) insults my country (which most people can guess)

Trust me, about 70% of the people you see online will have completely lost interest in games in a few year's time. A large portion of XBL/PSN is done by adolesents and teenagers just because playing games online is 'the done thing'.
and to you mister Optimus I've been playing video games since i can remember when i was younger it just gameboys and that, moved to the N64 which is before my time, then i moved
to the ps2 and played FFX for 2 years and then i got a PS3 with an XBOX 360 a little later.
summary: I was the first person I know face to face who played video games 'cus of me my dad played video games for a year or 2 (a bit annoying and wierd) and got my mum into WOW (realy annoying 'cus a can hardly go on my own PC).

My main concern is that there is a generation of upcoming gamers who have only ever played really easy games or games which require very simple actions things like CoD. Today's gamers are more accustomed to the simple failings of Wii sports or the hand-holding of modern games. We have a whole era of games with basically win buttons or just mindless generic FPS games.

Stick today's 11 year olds on a NES or even an N64 or some PS2 games and they fail. Hard.
look above this qoute and you can see that i played old games before the new games and above all I prefer some older games due to nostalgia value

We aren't all like that. I'm 15, but I have the patience to make it all the way through Zork. Don't paint us all with the same brush.

Well, my brother's 11, and he's probably one of the more calm of his generation. No problems, very polite, doesn't use the mic because he knows how high his voice is.

However, I think it's more a problem with the way these children are raised in general. That particular generation are victims of political correctness, and never being allowed to go outside because of fear of paedophiles and germs and silly things that older people grew up with fine.

That's got to fuck them up somehow. I wouldn't extend it to 16 though, I'd say 10-14, but with lots of exceptions, naturally.
Id say this is accurate. Age wise, I think by 15 their voice is no longer annoying as hell, and werere starting to calm down. I think you may be grouping us together just a bit, because when you play, you only notice the ones with the odd voices or the raging douchebags. I know a lot of guys my age (17) who play and are perfectly calm, take it as the game it is, with only the occasional burst of frustration. Its just that the only ones people think to notice are the difficult ones.

Also, tell your brother that the entire gaming world appreciates him not using the mic because his voice is high, but that its not quite necessary. It may be annoying to some people, but its no reason not to talk at all!

Damn kids. They need to get off my lawn.

What would happen if we cussed at a game that was frustrating? (Rygar, I'm looking at you and your damn pulley). We'd get smacked in the mouth.

By the pre-teen/teenage years? It's a wild mess of hormones. Just like when we were that age. Believe it or not! /ripley
