I don't normally practise necromancy, but...

...if anyone has any idea of a scoring system, I will do the final list. My current idea, having scrapped a system wherein 100 points are allocated in total according to order as being too complicated for my simple mind, is that I just tally all mentions of a game. I also need suggestions on how to deal with mentions of series as opposed to single entries, because while having the series behave as a single game, other lists will have mentioned multiple entries, or some and not others deliberately, leading to those lists having less votes overall, if I count a mention of a series as a vote for all the constituent games, we have the opposite problem. I'm thinking of counting a vote for a series as half a vote for all entires mentioned explicitly by others.

One tally for every game on a list without caring about position sounds good(to me at least). As for series entries, how bout serials like Mass Effect and Walking Dead get grouped together into one slot, on the logic they were made(and likely sold) as such, and long running series with big jumps in gameplay, for example a 2d game vs a 3D game, get their separate entries on the grounds they are almost completely different games; although this could hit a snag with sequels that don't change much.

Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 (The games that got me in to gaming)

Mickey and Donald: World of Illusion (I'm not a Disney fan by a long shot, but this is one of the best games ever made)

Grim Fandango (What's not to love? Some of the best characters ever made, great plot, great style, great puzzles and funny)

Monkey Island 1, 2 and 3 (Again, funny, great puzzles, well written and some cool characters)

Metal Gear Solid (The whole series is amazing, 4's game play wasn't the best, but who can not love MGS?)

Half-Life (The original got me in to FPSs and the 2nd was just a groundbreaking masterpiece!)

Final Fantasy I- IX (I love everything about final fantasy from 1 to 9, shame they're a pile of turd since X though)

Max Payne 1 and 2 (Such cool games. 3 is alright, but not worthy of best game ever status)

Maplestory (Feel like I may get flamed for this but ,eh? It was one of the best MMO's ever back in the day)

Bioshock (Incredible setting and story)

Fallout 3 (Just loved the game so much, great setting, great music, cool concept and three-dog 'hooowl')

Braid (Such a fantastic story, some nice puzzles and quite possibly the best game ending ever made)
