I played a Ranger in my last D&D campaign. My animal companion was a Deinonychus. It was trained to take riders, and flipping awesome -- I was so pissed off when it died.

I'm trying to teach my dog how to spit acid in people's faces, but it's pretty slow going.

Does a Catgirl count?

Failing that a Horse or other sort of ridable pack animal. Epic Adventure usually require a lot of walking and stuff to carry.

A wolf big enough and tame enough to ride, or some kind of Pegasus type creature.

A dragon. You can ride it, fly, and it breathes fire! Useful as a means of protection and you can get a handy campfire started!

This is the second time I've had to post this picture within the past 24 hours.
Still, a FREAKING SHOGGOTH HELL YEAH.

His name shall be Howard the destroyer.
Only 1 question: Do we have to ride on top of aformentioned animal? I don;t know where to sit...
EDIT: If it has to be real, a talking polar bear who can stand on his hind legs and has robot arms and a jetpack and a tuxedo, handlebar mustache, monocle and top hat, and he talks like Michael Ironside.
EDIT AGAIN: 1337 posts!

Either a bear because nobody would fuck with you if you had a bear or a raven because they are so damn smart

Aha, I think I may have posted this before, but what the hell:

That's Katsguchi (and Mai), and that would be my companion.

A fox would be cool.

Or a bear which has been trained to be a mount:)

See? Now its correct ^^

OT:

I would go with my dog. Highly intelligent and cute. A belgian shepherd mix. Looks kind of like this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Malinois_rybnik-kamien_pl.jpg]. And is awesome :)

I want a Dogmeat from Fallout 3.

He fights, has tons of health, AND can find items for you? Fuck yes.
This, Dogmeat is the best companion/'character' ever in any game. I never got closer to actually giving a damn what would happen to 'Teammates' 'Companions' and such BS
