So Battlefield 3 is pretty big now isn't it? Well, I was watching the trailers on TV and it reminded me of when I played the other games like Battlefield 2 and BFBC. So, what are your fond memories from playing the previous Battlefield games?

Lets see, Battlefield 2. I nearly always played as Spec Ops...and I was THAT Spec Ops player, you know, the one that gathered up his Spec Ops friends and would toss C4 all over a Humvee and drive it into people. The one that would make you think "Where'd the helicopter go?" only to have that thought halted as you avert your gaze only to see said helicopter flipping through the sky and barreling into a single enemy. I also was the Engineer sometimes...and I was THAT Engineer, the one that thought it would be funny to surround his teammates vehicles with anti-tank mines

Bad Company 2 is the only previous Battlefield game I played. First thing that comes to mind is me getting into a helicopter for the first time. I got into the drivers seat, the thing filled up with my team mates, and I took off. And by took off I mean I did a backflip and killed everyone.

i have loads i mean loads of them let's see. 1942 coral sea battle i take my plane crash it into the enemies deck but parashoot out right as it runs into the deck and i grab their plane and plow over 8 people waiting for another to spawn right in front of me... bf vietnam running around in my transport chopper playing ride of the valkaries while raining hell (literally i dropped tanks on the enemy to get kills WICKED)...then there was bf2 on mashtuur city where i used a spec ops kit to destroy every enemy vehicle by placing my c4 on the ground at the entrance to the US starting position... then 2142 on straight of gibraltar i flanked two squads and knifed them all before they knew what hit them. (that i have yet to repeat)...bfbc2 decimating an entire team with a blackhawk then jumping out to arm the mmcom only to jump back in the heli to protect it. bf3 meh nothing rlly compares to what i used to do. =/

Remember joining a losing game on Road Rage in BF2, assuming commander position and then turn the game around to a steamrolling win.
... Killing snipers or campers with supply crates or jeeps as the commander... Camping on a hill with a .50 cal sniper rifle and repeatedly snipe the people trying to take off in a chopper... Take out attack choppers with the ERYX bazookas...Paradrop squad on Wake Island: Be the squadleader, take off in a transport helicopter and hover far above an enemy flag. Have people leave your squad, spawn in your helicopter, paradrop into the flag, then leave squad to make room for the rest of the team to spawn on you. Turn around a losing game to a steamrolling win.

In BFBC2 we were on Port Valdaz (Sp?) and we were attackers. We were attacking their third defense point and I was going to attack from behind. All of a sudden the Helicopter just smashes into the crain and the pilot jumps out. I steal it and took off. Getting my friend who flies way better into it and we just reek havoc on them.

Later in the same game, we steal their black hawk numerous of times (Or at least destroy it so they can't take it) and just had fun with destroying what we saw. It was about near the end of the game, our other teammates haven't even destroy the A point so we jump down, set it up and BOOM. Game over with just 1 ticket left. It was a good day in that game.

There was this short-range desert map on Bad Company 1 that I for the life of me will never be able to remember the name of. I remember attackers spawning in a few houses clumped together while defenders started at some warehouse with both gold caches in it. Both teams are only given light tanks and Jeeps with mounted 50 cals and a semi-automatic nade launchers.

Anyway, I must have my best memories on that map. This one time I snuck behind the defenders, grabbed a mounted grenade launcher and destroyed both gold crates. Or when I eliminated a newly repaired enemy tank and half the enemy team in a few seconds with nothing but a stick of C4 and a PP2000 magazine. Or when I went to the warehouse at the first defender spawn and would kill everyone with the USAS12.

Ahhh. But my favorite has to be on that... one really open map that gives attackers artillery (not the one with the Black Hawks. Fuck Black Hawks). I got on the artillery, and fucking destroyed. Tank spawns, immediately is destroyed. See a pair of baddies approaching my team from behind, they die. Shell the gold crate locations after the charge is disarmed, get tons of kills.

I got like three of the harder medals. Two for artillery, one for destroying a bunch of tanks.

A few days ago, I was in the gunner seat of the dune buggy driving down the sandbar in Wake Island, when an attack chopper keep up and starting firing at us from behind, I started shooting at it. Needless to say, I felt like I was one of those guys in the BF3 commercials, with sand flying everywhere and explosions all around :D

I have so many good memories of playing BF2 Strike at Karkand. We would distribute classes, with me always getting sniper or support, and then we'd push our way into a defensible position so we could snipe, set C4 and generally dole out destruction. Awesome stuff!

Pity BF2 is so hard to install on newer machines...

I've made many friends playing Bad Company 2 and we would all joke about how much I sucked at flying helicopters.

We were so serious about winning matches, sometimes they would have me use my sucky-ass flying skills to suicide run the enemy bases during conquest.

We always won.

I remember playing 1942 once a pretty long time ago. And I've spent tons of time in every other game except 2, most of it in both Bad Companys.

My favorite game was attacking on Port Valdez in BC2, my squad and I went through all four sets without dying (at least not permanently, I went Medic so there was a lot of defibs going around). That one station in the large building on the last section can have some epic moments. We held out there, probably killing the entire team twice over, walls exploding and all that, then me tracing and a squad member shooting down a chopper as we ran across to the other station.

Good times.

Hmm, I played a lot of Strike at Karkand in BF2, shame I can't seem to hit anything in BF3, otherwise I might play it more. Only other map I really played was Operation Clean Sweep, I would play US, become Spec Ops, nab the jet at the beginning and race to the last point. Naturally no one spawns there and I would bail out of the jet and blow up their stuff with the C4, request a supply drop and blow up the rest of it. Rarely worked, but when it did, I would single-handedly win the match.

Only specific memory I could think of, would be on Operation Clean Sweep, I was on US flying a helicopter to the first point and strafing around it, having teammates spawn in on me and parachute down. Eventually someone fired a SAM, I dropped flares and spun away but the SAM either hit me on the edge of the blades or the flares and exploded, the force flipped the helicopter completely upside down, but still in the air surprisingly. I had enough altitude for a few seconds of free fall, but refusing defeat and knowing I'd probably be killed by the chopper blades if I jumped, as proven by the gunner, I just held the button to lose altitude and sense I was upside down, that meant going up and slowed my decent. I actually managed to stop the thing in the air upside down, I guess that's how the game works. Of course, helicopters are notoriously difficult to fly, let alone upside down. I heard the "someone is locked onto you and you are about to die" alarm constantly, but I the guy held his fire to see how long I could hold it. I kept it in the air a good 20-30 seconds before I lost too much altitude and slammed into a tree. Nonetheless the rest of the game consisted of "Holy crap did that just happen?".

Probably the most bad ass moment of my gaming career.

There are plenty of stories from Battlefield but I think my favorites are variations of the following:

1) I am incredible at tanks. I don't know why. A friend and I always play together and if you get the two of us in a tank we rain utter misery upon the heads of our foes. Stories of this sort include: 1v1 duels, valiant stands that went far longer than they should, hilarious slaughter of helpless enemies, victorious battles against several tanks simultaneously and the one vehicle assault with shockingly effective results.

2) Hobo with a shotgun. At some point in Bad Company 2 I thought it would be funny to use a shotgun on a map that obviously didn't favor the weapon. Being on the defensive, eventually our base was overrun and I was left behind. What ensued was a successful campaign of hopping out of dumpsters and mugging people until we were pushed back again. When I managed to run to their next base and do the same I started to think there might be something to this. Since then, I tend to use a shotgun far more often than wise and doing better than I have any right to.

3) You should always go down with the ship (tank). Since I usually play with a friend, we have a system. He plays as the guy who can pick people back up and I play as the guy with extra ammunition. Battlefield 3 ruined that plan to an extent. Since I tend to favor a shotgun even when a shotgun is a stupid choice, I often like to have C4. Sometimes I need to knock a building down. Sometimes I like blowing up passing tanks. And sometimes, I use it to demonstrate that you should never get out of the only tank on your side unless someone else is in there to keep me from hopping in and engaging in story 1. Sometimes I put C4 on a tank and people know and bail out. When that happens, I like to hop in their vehicle and remind them that when they elected to drive the tank they were charged with a sacred duty. And if the map just happens to give you the one tank, you will rapidly be shown the error of your ways if you give it to the other team.

Even though I have always loved Battlefield games, I scarcely play them. Why? Because I am... not that good :(

No real clear memories from other Battlefield games, but I always have some laughs playing Battlefield 3 with friends.

I guess the best thing I have done was when me and a friend were getting terrorised by a chopper on Damavand Peak (spelling), conquest. Something made me just go "Fuck it" pulled out my S.M.A.W. and fired at the moving chopper, blew it right out of the sky :p

Battlefield:Bad Company. Nothing more satisfying than going up behind a tank, planting C4 and blowing it up. It's a wonderful thrill you get!

I remember playing Bad Company 1's campaign and getting really pissed off since enemies were insanely accurate and could always figure out your position, even if you were hiding behind something

Battlefield: Bad Company 2. That snow map with the big mountain spawn point. Everyone in my squad was recon. Everyone in my squad was on the mountain. I either spawned on them or at the top of the hill in the air. They were useless.

So I was equally useless and shot them in the face with a tracer dart and smoke grenades.

BF2 mostly. I too was Spec Ops. The type of Spec Ops that didn't kamikaze, but I would always sneak around behind everything, C4 all the shit at their base with a support following me, then take the nearest Jet/Heli/Jeep and get the hell out of there. That and I'd constantly C4 the ramp on Karkand so that the enemy tank could never get up to attack us. Then just snipe from the small wooden ramp a bit to the left. C4 worked well, the sniping... kinda.
