Your bf/gf's parents.

Do you get along with them? Care to explain why or why not?

My gf's dad despises me, although he has recently taken to calling me "Your boyfriend" when he's talking to her instead of "That creep" or something of that effect. Her mom loves me and thinks I'm wonderful, but she's the nicest person I've ever met. Her step-mom thinks I'm OK and is warming up to me. I think her dad hates me because we met online and I'm a little older than her. Her mom loves me because I treat her well and respect her. Her step-mom is warming up to me for similar reasons I think.

no offense, if i had a daughter, and she met a dude online who was a bit older than her, i would be a bit..skeptical for a while.

just saying, that situation could go so many ways.

OT: well im single now, but i know how to play my cards right around parents, and they usually always love me to death, i remember a few girlfriends ago the mom called ME to have ME over for dinner

too bad she wasn't a milf...

nonetheless, i usually have parents in the palm of my hand. there have been a couple parents though that i won't fucking go near, crazy bastards.

I've always been cool with my girlfriend's parents because, like many of the people here, I know how to be polite, courteous, and am intelligent enough to carry on (most) conversations. But it was especially easy to get along with their dads, since I'm an athlete and keep up with most major sports. I even got to call my last girlfriend's dad by his first name.

My gf's mom insists that I call her by her first name. No "Miss" or anything in front of it. I always add the "Miss" in front because that's just the way I grew up. I think it's a little bit annoying for her, but I explained that I just wouldn't feel right if I called her by just her first name.

I did ask my gf if she thought it would be funny if I called her dad "Dad" one day. She paled and told me not to if I valued my life. XD

I do, very much so, although i think the mother is lazy, fat, and nagging. Never had a problem with "in laws" though. Never understood those bad comedies.

my ex's parents didn't even know we were together because her best mate who hated me told her dad of a misunderstanding that ended in me being kicked out of school and he said if she ever found out we were together he'd kill me. Fun...

Well I'm married, and I get along famously with my in-laws.
My father-in-law is a computer geek like myself, so we have nerdy computer talks. And my mother-in-law has a great sense of humour. We badger each other in a joking way all the time. My grandma-in-law, who my wife is extremely close to, also loves me. She's a wonderful old gal, and I love her like my own grandma (If either were still alive, that is).

I even get along well with both my brother-in-laws! We're very different (One is a framer, the other is a full-time fisherman), but they are great, fun guys. So it's easy to get along with them.

Let me say that I never take for granted the fact that I have great in-laws.
It's a huge relief to not have any anxiety or worry about going to visit them.

Thank god im with an older guy...his dad is dead and his mom is understanding and sweet. Its an epic setup. And his sister is sweet to. I kinda won the new family jackpot lol.

I've only had one boyfriend, but thankfully he wasn't out to his parents when we were together, so they never really knew me in that context. I was just a guy friend who "came over to play Guitar Hero."

Where do i begin? Well my girlfriend comes from a very religious family. They are hardcore Christians which is weird because outside of social meetings and church they are always at each others throats. I'm not allowed in her bedroom at all when at her house, and they think that its the same at my house, they also think that we're both virgins.

I'm the mini me to her dad (minus the insane jew fro i have), he's a mega geek, loves violent games and movies and knows every meme under the sun. However he still resents me, he'll never admit to it but you can tell from his body language that he doesn't think im right for her (no one would be by his standards).
Her mum is a bit more understanding and seems to help us she can, but she can also be an evil *****. Many a time she has planned something and forced my girlfriend to go so that i can't see her.
As for her sisters they both love me, the youngest loves me because im mental and the middle child loves me because i smuggle in anime and manga for her.
O and the extended family love me as well which is awesome, last Christmas they defended me when a huge argument broke out between me and the father-in-law.

My girlfriends parents seemed to like me well enough, I always was polite, I was able to drive (Unlike her other boyfriends, and we are all college aged) I was always nice to her.
Hell, even after I broke up with her, I saw her mother when I was walking home from the campus and she smiled and waved at me.

I have never met any of my girlfriends parents, ever. I take it to try and putting off meeting family for as long as possible. Funny thing is though I met the parents of a girl I wanted to date. They were Vietnamese and I wore my fantastic shirt that has the hammer and sickle of the Soviet Union on it. They were not impressed.

My girlfriend's parents are kind of racist and still aren't too thrilled she's dating a white guy, but, they basically put up with me and I more or less put up with them, her mom is a hell of a cook.

My current GF's parents love me... Saying that I'm a change from the other idiots she dated...

Never met 'em. They lived in a different state and he wasn't out. They seem picturesque though, maybe a little bit too easy on him.

I love my in-laws through my sister though. I still haven't really gotten used to saying "brother in-law" as opposed to "my sister's husband". They're great fun, his mom is a bit of a wino but a nice person. On the other hand, he really hates my mother.

My girlfriend's step-dad keeps saying he likes me, but somehow I just don't believe him. I think it may have something to do with him waving a shotgun shell in my face and thinly threatening to use it that just has me so put off...

As for her mom, I have no idea what to think of her or what she thinks of me. I'm told that she thinks "I'm okay", which could mean pretty much anything at this point. It's kind of hard to read how someone thinks of you when you only ever see them with exactly one facial expression.
